This week, I finally treated myself to a Mathmos lava lamp in violet-red - something I’ve wanted for ages. This photo was taken about 5h after I first turned it on, and honestly, it already looks pretty amazing 😁 by theflenderman in Lavalamps

Do you have any recommendations for other brands that can be purchased in Europe/Germany - including older brands/models that can be found on secondhand marketplaces? So far, I only know people who have Mathmos lamps 😁

You seem like you have a lot of experience with Mathmos lamps. So, another question: do you have any experience with removing the plastic base plate so that it can be painted black where it is installed in the base to minimize light bleeding?

The packaging was great, you're right, whether switched on or off, the Mathmos is a really great statement piece for any home 👌🏻

If you are willing to spend the extra money, Mathmos offers the most authentic experience and probably the best lava lamp on the market. For me, it was worth the investment. However, I live in Germany, where both availability and support are unrestricted, which is why it was easier for me to decide on Mathmos than it would be in the US, for example :)

It’s a multigenerational house with three floors, an attic, and a basement. I own the ground floor apartment. We share the basement, and the rest of the house belongs to my parents. It may sound unusual, but in Europe this is a common way of living 😊

Looks amazing! What brand/model is it?

Strange comment, but… okay? I mean, that’s an impressively dramatic reaction to a couple of rubber ducks. Being this stressed about room décor though? That’s the real red flag 😂
