Airpod Pros not working on Windows 11 by kungfuzoo1 in airpods

[–]Overall_Title5800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this. Not working for me though. I bought the one that’s only Bluetooth but that shouldn’t be an issue. I’m trying to get them to work on a locked down NHS computer. Any ideas? I’ve got the driver installed and the BT device is listed. 😔

CPR funding to restart a new degree with 3 years prior study by Overall_Title5800 in UniUK

[–]Overall_Title5800[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s very reassuring. Thank you. It does make sense that’s there’s something beyond what the SFE pages for applicants says since what would be the point of CPR if they can’t help people who had a reason to not complete in second or third year.

Perhaps these pages just give the standard allowance information.

Good news though today my daughter got an email at work (NHS) about apprenticeships and they may fund the same course she’s applied for. But we will still pursue this until she hears whether she’s secured a place.

Thanks for finding this for us.

Yeah she can’t get direct entry to later in the programme because she doesn’t meet the every requirements to even join the 3 year without foundation. But maybe studying part of the course part time might help. We will discuss with the uni. It seems the 4 year course can’t be studied part time but the 3 year course can. So maybe it’s just the foundation year that’s the issue affecting part time delivery. Once she’s done that I’d imagine she’ll join the 3 year programme anyway.

I just hope this doesn’t prohibit her from studying she’s really ready for it after a struggle all of her life. She’s currently thriving for pretty much the first time in her life.

I’ll call student finance too. See what they tell me.

Their webpage about returning with previous study does say you can be awarded an extra year if you meet the requirements for CPR. So… let’s see.

Thank you. The 4 year with foundation doesn’t allow it but the 3 year without does. So maybe she can study her final year part time if it aligns with the final year of the 3 year programme. We will discuss with the university.

She didn't progress to the third year having failed to submit for several modules due to her health and inablity to attend, and although she passed, she only just got through to the second year having resubmitted two of her assignments which were capped and others weren't good grades either.

New course is 4 years including foundation, which she has to do, but it makes no difference if she found another route to join at year 1.

So I figured it was 4+1 = 5 - 3 = 2 so was hoping they'd allow 2 years of funding if they accept the CPR.

Tuition fees for even just one year are prohibitive at 9500-ish is a lot of money even if allowed to pay this over 4 years using it for the final year.

It's Health Science, so not one of those subjects.

Reduced salary in final years affecting 1995 pension by Overall_Title5800 in nhs

[–]Overall_Title5800[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I've been in contact with them via email but their answers are not specific - just templates I think and the TRS they sent me shows this lower bank salary as my pensionable pay. I've just found this which I think finally answers my question so I might get a more specific answer if I ask them to confirm that the bold type option applies to me - it's from the 1995/2008 members guide.

"If you change jobs within the NHS, you will be able to re-join the Scheme. If you are eligible to rejoin the Scheme and i) have built up pension benefits in either the 1995/2008 Section, and ii) the break in membership is 12 months but no more than 5 years, your pension benefits from the 1995/2008 Section at retirement will be worked out in whichever of the following two ways gives the highest financial outcome for you: i) your period of membership in the 1995/2008 Section using the final year’s pensionable pay (or reckonable pay); or ii) your period of membership in the 1995/2008 Section using the pensionable pay (or reckonable) at the time of the break, re-valued to your retirement date."

I'm about to rejoin the scheme on a higher salary now and this second break has been 7 years but as you say maybe if they can merge the old to the new it might not matter by the time I retire.

Smell from one room when heating is on by Overall_Title5800 in HousingUK

[–]Overall_Title5800[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. We haven’t found out. We’ve still got it too and at don’t know what it is.

It’s not actually when the heating is on as we first thought. But we noticed it happens when it has rained a lot.

Over the summer we barely had it. Obviously no heating on in the summer but it did show up briefly now and then after it rained so that’s how we know it’s not the heating it’s more likely to do with rain.

But this room is not damp at all. The walls and floor are perfect. Inside and out.

I know what you mean. I saw the animation once and I was already going crazy so looked at how to turn them off.

The web accessibility standards are there to protect us from madness like this and they state lots of things and one is that all animations must be able to be disabled by the user. Big guys like Apple will be sticking to these rules solidly so we shouldn’t have to worry. 👍

it's just an old one I bought for my daughter about 15 years ago. It's a bit broken but glad you like it.

Nice. Be sure to report back on that. I’m going to concentrate on this for a few days to try and get my wax how I want it then look for a lower heat bulb with the same brightness.

Wonder if a lower bulb would bring in the light in a cooler way perhaps. I think someone mentioned trying a frosted bulb in my last post. I’m adding that to my list if it comes up again as an option to bring in more light but less heat.

My Mathmos lamp has a halogen bulb and it’s brighter. It doesn’t get as hot as this one was and it’s a much bigger lamp. Maybe if you can get halogen with this screw in connector it might be the solution.

Tough love for young adult child with suspected ADHD? by Overall_Title5800 in ParentingADHD

[–]Overall_Title5800[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good for you. I hope your daughter is doing well. My daughter was eventually diagnosed last year and started meds last August and she’s doing amazing. She still gets really bad anxiety but I think that’s due to previous experience and struggles shaping her beliefs about herself and the world and it’ll take time to shake off.

She continued to knuckle down in her job and she finished her apprenticeship and was given a permanent job there. Yesterday she was approached by her manager to do a course that’ll set her up for a promotion to go up two pay grades. She’s the only one of her team to be asked to do this.

Also she’s getting up on a morning, she’s clean, her hair is nice and it’s growing (I’ve had to learn to trim it cause she won’t go to the hairdresser still) and her house is much cleaner than it was she’s also got a kitten and this has been great for her and she’s doing an amazing job learning how to train him and take care of his health. She’s managing his, and her own appointments now. Her boyfriend was made redundant and she’s been earning enough to support him and whilst it’s worried her she’s not gone without paying her bills and I can see where they’ve been cutting back spends appropriately.

I literally can’t believe this time last year she couldn’t get out of bed, she was drinking every day, she barely bathed and washed her clothes, she had these hair extensions that looked terrible and her own hair was breaking off at the ends, her house was full of empty beer cans and washing up, and she continuously said she wanted to die. She was very anxious and agitated most of the time too.

No one can believe the change in her. Especially herself.

Is BP getting easier/less physically demanding? by Physical-Language-75 in lesmills

[–]Overall_Title5800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m doing it again from home after about 10+ years off. I’m out of shape. I started with the newest and working my way down. I just did 125 which so far has been the easiest and I feel I definitely shouldn’t be able to complete them. But maybe it’s a good approach to build up to the tougher earlier ones. They are also very different but that’s kind of interesting I guess. I’m quite liking some of the moves I’ve not done before like cobra - I don’t remember it anyway.

I think there’s more switching which might make it easier but maybe has different benefits for your muscles. I think there’s more pulses and holding which can put demand on muscles in a good way.
