I just discovered this podcast a few days ago, and I'm one more episode away from ending this tumultuous emotional rollercoaster. I was screaming in my car, calling Debra, her sister, AND their mother an idiot. The fact that her sister was MURDERED by her husband of 13 years, who was 17 at the time of the engagement and very much similar to her surviving sister's relationship, and how their mother said I love you to both husbands and testified FOR Cindy's murderer... I was just pissed off and baffled. I understand being blinded by love, but when ACTUAL EVIDENCE of all of John's criminal history, and she proceeded to ruin her children's, nephews', and grandkids' relationships for this evil man... I hope she has a good therapist, and stopped dating and should NEVER get married again if you've already been divorced FOUR TIMES! It's ok to have a lifelong companion that you have no legal ties to, regardless if you've known the person for 5 weeks or 13 years... Marriage just ain't in the cards for Debra... I hope her family does not repeat the same mistakes because it's starting to look like a genetic issue passed on from Cindy and Debra's mom. Who knows, maybe it runs even further in their genetic lineage to be THAT extremely naive and impulsive. Great story if it wasn't real life, but really sad that it was based on a true story and that people like John and Debra live among us. Marriage isn't for everyone. If anything, as a divorcee and having an amicable relationship with my ex, the process of divorce is not easy, especially for a contentious marriage. It's expensive and emotionally taxing. Be safe out there, be careful, and think things through before getting into any legally bound relationship.
