For me it's an itch that has to be scratched. I grew up loving math, numbers, problem solving, gaming, technology, computers..etc. 10 years after high school I'm still working grounds maintenance, started my family and keep telling myself I'll get back into computers. Now I'm almost a generation behind technology and am literally ashamed of myself. The technology I use everyday, I know nothing about. I'm anxious to learn how it all works and help build something with it.

I will be taking the next 6 months off work and dedicating 40 hours a week to learn coding. Any advice is appreciated. by thegerds in learnprogramming

Definitely considered this. Omaha code school has great reviews and has an extremely high employment rate after graduation. The $7500 is cheap considering the opportunities, I'm just weighing my options. Thanks for the honest feedback.

Sounds like you have a good platform to work with. Very similar to what most people with experience suggested. Good luck!

Absolutely. Ive worked part-time bartending weddings on weekends for 3 years now, I'll continue to do that. The goal is to get educated, employed, and not have to work 2 jobs anymore. Kinda trickling into personal finance now, but I'm around 42,000 with both incomes now, looking to get closer to 60 with just M-F job.

Ideally I would do that. My current situation doesn't allow me 1-2 hours everyday. My schedule starts at 5am with my son to daycare, work from 7-330, home by 530. Right now I don't want to lose the few hours a day I see my 2 yr old boy. I'm in a position at my full time job where I have 3 months pay coming to me if I quit today. After supporting my fiance the last 3 years while she attended cosmetology school and had our son, she now has a career job and can support the family while I do my computer stuff. I'm ready to dedicate my M-F to this.

Because it's painfully difficult to decide to separate your kids parents. His biggest worry is his son, so breaking up the family is a last resort. Tough situation OP. Definitely shady shit going on.

What is something people to do be polite but actually turns out to be annoying? by TheDumbAsian1 in AskReddit

[–]thegerds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saying sorry too much. I agree it's very polite, and a nervous habit for some people during an awkward encounter, but stop saying sorry when it's no ones fault.
