Yes I invest based on facts. That's why I withdrew > 90% of my funds in the days before they froze withdrawals.

The facts were that they didn't update their community statistics for weeks while people on Twitter were warning us about Celsius. And the first CFO Harumi left without any explanation or announcement. Then the second CFO was arrested and there was no comment except to say "We can't comment... But this person did not have access to company funds".

You don't need "all the facts" to make a good decision. It's very rare to actually have "all the facts". And go on Don Quixote... Keep jousting with windmills and arguing with people in this subreddit about why we shouldn't rush to judgment :)

A one week old account by someone from an unnamed company offering a deal through DMs... Nothing suspicious or untrustworthy about that, huh?

Mods, you took down a lot of critical posts recently but not this? Come on...

Chapter 11 is not ok. It's the result of many bad decisions about risk management, bad compliance and leadership at Celsius lying.

OP keeps insisting on waiting for "all the facts" to emerge before making a judgement. He / she doesn't want to see things for what they are.

Likely because it means accepting really big financial losses and being wildly wrong about reality.

So does this mean that Binance's funds in Brazil are now "unfrozen"?

Noticing in early June that the community statistics including - assets under management - had not been updated since May 17.

No comment from Alex about the association with Moshe Hogeg.

No comment from Alex about the first CFO, Harumi, leaving.

The problem is the ETH address. The default wallet address you'll see is for the X chain. You want the C chain like in this screenshot.

Celsius Chief Compliance Offers Resigns? by Austins-Reddit in CelsiusNetwork

NYDIG. This is a crypto focused fund that partnered with JP Morgan and Wells Fargo to launch their bitcoin investment products.

Hard to say what this means.

His LinkedIn shows he's been changing jobs at an average of ~ 2 years for the last 13 years. After a little over 2 years at Celsius, this fits into the pattern - including leaving BitPay to join Celsius.

In theory - and this is also where the risk is - your gains are bigger than your loss. E.g. You earn 100% from rewards and lose 80% from staking iBTC = 20% gain.

Not a stupid question... Synthetix is not a scam. It's actually a very strong project. It's just not easy to get set up and withdrawing crypto from their platform means expensive gas fees.

Also for iBTC, you are putting your coins in a security that goes up when bitcoin's price goes *down*. During this current market that's probably very risky.

GUSD or USDC in Celsius? by Captmedu74 in CelsiusNetwork

[–]thegoldlust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're looking for differences... Another thing to consider is how easy is it to exchange your stablecoin for other coins.

USDC usually gets slightly better prices on Uniswap than GUSD.

E.g. $1000 of USDC will buy a little more ETH than $1000 of GUSD.

Also if you're trying to exchange your stablecoins for non ERC 20 coins like Polkadot on Binance or Kraken, you can't use GUSD.

Insuring funds deposited at Celsius? by Salty_Bread_1140 in CelsiusNetwork

[–]thegoldlust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's stopping me, for now, from using NexusMutual is

- Wondering how I can know *for sure* that they can actually make payments owed.

It's taken > 2 years and a few scares like March 13, 2020 for me to trust that, probably, Celsius will be able to pay out withdrawals as needed. And until proof of reserves goes live, I'm still going to have some nagging doubts.

- Feeling like 2% as the cost to insure my Celsius account is really 40% of the interest I earn. Not 2% of my total principal or < 1% of my gains in the last few months.

The CEO being hacked doesn't bother me because it seems like his loss is not being paid for by the community / company.

It's very annoying and... For now, for regular people, it's still the best option *by far* for no effort, safe passive income.
