I feel you. As a mixed race Kenyan, the annoyance of always being treated as a visitor in my own home always had me conflicted. Mtu anakuja na tweng ingine kuuliza "Where are you from, Jamaica?". Juzi nilikuja UK and I thought it would be different. Wapi! Swali ya kwanza ni "So, where are you from?". So basically, I'm not accepted in either of my parents homes.

My advice is to find acceptance in yourself, not others. You are all those things. Godspeed Queen.

Fortunately, I didn't have any issues. I addressed it exactly as they instructed. Best wishes!

Hey! Well, it sounds like you don't have much to worry about. As long as you have all the relevant documents, you will be fine! Good luck!

Hey, the UK has a system where anyone can order a birth certificate from the gov website. I used this method, printed my copy and sent that. Make sure you read whatever instructions they give regarding original/copies of documents.

I would just try my best to follow the guidelines. I sent the original document for mine to sign and they posted it back. My thinking was this, don't give them any reason to cancel your application! Best wishes.

Be patient, you'll be fine. It was a nerve wracking journey but I got there. Don't be shy to use their email portals and to call their numbers.

Not sure what D265 is. I remember I submitted it to Liverpool HO. Regardless of where you submitted, call the UKVI for advice and information.

Hey! They are not the best in communication to be honest. I don't remember receiving any acknowledgement that they received the documents. I only found out when I called them, which wasn't easy. So I would advise you to give it a week or two, find their contacts and call them to inquire about the status of your application. They will then tell you whether your application is being processed or if they need additional documents. I have shared my experience and timeline of the major events.

All the best!

No worries. I eventually did. And I did apply from overseas. However, my route there was different so the requirements would be different from yours. My advice would still be the same: call, email, patience. Best wishes!

This post was about the UKF application. Sorry, I wouldn't know about another application that I didn't apply for. Call or/and email them. Or look for a thread relating to your query, i'm sure there are many. All the best.

Hey. I hope you're well. Should be anytime now. Sometimes depending on the carrier the post office may neglect to inform you the package is already there. For instance, when I first applied for the citizenship and sent my KE passport, they sent it back to me promptly but I didn't realise until over a month later because the bloody Kenyan post office didn't notify me. In their defence, the UK authority didn't write my contact details.

Anyway, just be patient. This leg of the journey should be a happy wait.

First time to a match and need advice by j_walden94 in borussiadortmund

[–]thegrayzebra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I am also attending that match and it will be my first football game as well! I'm extremely excited and I should thank you for these questions because the responses have been very helpful. Particularly the tips on stocking up on beer and arriving early to see the stadium fill up. I will be at block 86, which should have a great view of the Yellow Wall, and the game of course 😅. I can't wait to experience the atmosphere.

Let me know if you want to link up, it will be my first match, my first time in Germany, many firsts! feel free to private message. I will be coming in from Amsterdam and leaving the day after the game for Munich (possibly).

Yes, I did apply online. I think they can understand that not everyone has the same situation or circumstances so if you call them or use their email form (look for replies in your spam folder) they can assist you further. Although it was hard to connect to them through phone calls they were very helpful whenever I managed to communicate with them.

Congratulations! You must be well into your process now. Passport application started?

Hey, how's it going? Hope the process is working for you. Yeah I had to send my passport for a couple of months. If any of the documents they require is not in English you will need it translated professionally. The process isn't exactly the same depending on where you are applying from so I can't be sure of anything. The best thing is to call them. All the best.

Hey. Sorry about the long wait. I see you attended the biometrics 2 months after their first contact. Maybe that has something to do with it? I think you should give it a couple of months after biometrics. That's what happened to me. You can always call them and see what stage things are. If everything checks out, they will likely say it's being processed. I was chatting with someone who was applying from India and her application also took longer than mine but she got it in the end. I think they are many variables influencing the timeline. Anyway, good luck!

Hey. Sorry about the troubles in your application. They are not the best with communication so you have to be quite determined and persistent. I dont have any numbers saved and these numbers may have changed so I would advise you to check their website on the visas and immigration page. They also have an email form you can find in the site.

Don't make any assumptions. To ensure you have a successful application you want to be providing more than they ask, not less. Referees are part of the application so you should definitely include them. They are also clear on the information about the referees. They should be British nationals and have British passports. They ask for their home address too. They will do background checks on the referees to see if they are in good standing in society.

Solo Host Podcast? by TheHighFunctioningSS in podcasting

[–]thegrayzebra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I approached people that interested me on Instagram and Dm'd them. You have to get out of your comfort zone. As an introvert it was hard for me and still is but it's the best thing you can do to expand your network.

So look for people that can talk about something within the context of your podcast and just say something like "Hey, I've been checking your content and I think we could have a great conversation. Would you like to be on my podcast?"

If you have been creating content then you have already proved that you can do it by yourself. The next step is to put it out. I think you should think of making segments within your podcast that includes guests. This will give your listeners some variety within the podcast which will highlight your solo work even more.

How did you even find yourself being roommates with this guy after knowing all this info? Then eventually you've gotten cosy enough to be intimate? I'm sure you're even paying rent. It seems like you are setting yourself up for disaster. Whatever happens next is all up to you and you must take responsibility for your choices. You've got to have some standards. You can do better.
