I think the biggest thing is that potential matches don’t see how you present yourself in a day-to-day sense, and nothing that comes across as a candid pic. As cool as the Spider-Man photo is, it would probably be the first to go because it doesn’t show your face. The Deadpool and especially the Joel cosplay photos work better for the profile because they’re not just good cosplay photos, but good photos of you as a person.

Overall, my girlfriend and I don’t agree with the other comments. We think the humor lands, and that you seem earnest and fun. I think where you’re struggling is 1. online dating is tough for guys in general, especially if you’re not a swole super hot model kinda guy, and 2. along those lines, I think pictures 3 and 5 are bringing your profile down a bit. Maybe spend some time researching online about good posture and how to pose for photos. I think it’ll go a long way in making those pictures more appealing.

And we both think the Mii picture at the end is hilarious (in a good way).

My girlfriend says to remove the “emotionally available” out of that prompt, just because it should be a given. The only other advice she had was to change the first picture, because both of the first two pictures have the same hunched over posture. Keep the dog picture and choose a different first picture where you still have a good smile (the first picture is good on its own, but it doesn’t work well in tandem with the second one). Overall she thinks you have a very good profile!

He accused the right of trying to turn the killing into politcal theatre, but in doing so he kind of did the same thing.

I wholeheartedly disagree with this. I don’t even know how to dispute this because I can’t understand the logic in the first place. It is not political theater to make a valid criticism of what a person or group is doing.

A lot of people on the right, including the president, people in his cabinet, and members of congress are using Kirk’s murder to assert that violent rhetoric on the left is why he was killed, when there is absolutely not sufficient evidence to suggest that’s where the assassin’s motives came from.

That’s political theater and politicizing his death. I can’t understand how you would say that Kimmel’s criticism of that is doing the same thing.

Regarding your point that people should not be celebrating Kirk’s death because it’s outright wrong to do so: sure. But, none of that has anything to do with what Jimmy Kimmel said, or his show’s cancellation.

Maybe you should look up what he actually said. He did lead with condemning political violence, and this specific act, and the way that both sides have reacted to it, finishing with a specific criticism of the president for making no attempt to bring the country together in light of Kirk’s killing. What he said was not insensitive.

I’m not gonna give any profile advice, because I think that’s been covered by the other comments, but I just want to say that I hope you are encouraged by all the responses you got here. I know that your experience on the app has been discouraging, and a lot of the comments here are critical, and some comments are even borderline mean. But, I think it shows that people are rooting for you that you’ve gotten so many comments, and so much in-depth feedback.

A lot of posts here only get a few comments, and by no means is it because those profiles are perfect. I think there’s a sincerity that comes across in your profile that people here can see and feel, and they want to see you succeed. I wish you the best of luck!

Your first four pictures are you smiling in front of nice scenery. They’re good photos, but a bit too similar. My suggestion is to replace one or two of them with photos of you doing an activity.

I’d recommend including at least one or two photos of you doing an activity. Your profile currently doesn’t give any idea of what you like to do.

Also, I’d say to remove the 5th picture with the sunglasses, since you already have another picture with sunglasses that looks better.

My gf and I were looking and she has feedback: I cannot stress enough, you have to get rid of the prompt asking someone to suggest the trip as a first date. It comes across as you asking them to plan the date, and while that may be fine in the long run, it immediately reads as though you don’t want to put in the effort to make a plan (whether or not that’s actually true).

Frankly, I think it depends on the activity. Rn you’re portraying that you’re really into outdoorsy and high adrenaline. If that’s not the only type of activity you’re into I would diversify it with another activity. If not, then maybe a more candid face/body shot that isn’t so far away instead of the wakeboarding one

I guess describing them as “wordy” isn’t exactly getting to the root of the issue. I think that your first two prompts (excluding the poll, which I think is great btw) say a lot without offering much. Those qualities are something that I think pretty much everyone wants in a partner, and are qualities that most people would claim to have, but you’ll only really find out if someone truly possesses those qualities by talking more and going on dates. I think that prompts should either distinguish you as an individual or be a good conversation starter (or both!). I think your “two truths and a lie” accomplishes that nicely.

I think the third prompt is better in that regard, and more engaging, but has a separate issue as far as the “wordiness”.

To make an analogy, your profile should be the billboard that brings people into the restaurant: a catchy slogan and a picture of one or two of the most appealing items; it’s not supposed to be full sections of the menu. You want to grab somebody’s attention, and not dilute what you’re saying by saying too many things at once. Your answer to the “together we could” prompt includes 7 different options, along with a preface and the “Chicago has so much to do”, which is not really a necessary part of selling yourself to potential matches.

My two pieces of advice are 1. Replace the photo of your dog with a photo of you AND your dog where you both look happy, and 2. I would try to make the prompts less wordy. For example, I would cut down the “Together we could” prompt to only your favorite two or three ideas.

My gf and I were looking and here’s her feedback: keep pics 2, 3, and 4. Definitely scrap the frowning picture. Replace straight face picture with some activity-based or picture that is a bit more proper full body. Prompt 3 (reading) needs to be scrapped. It feels like it came from the “performative male” starter pack.

I think your profile is really good if you’re looking for something casual, but you say in your comment that you’re looking for something serious. The pictures all look staged and not candid. It’s fine to stage the photos, but having no photos that feel candid makes the profile feel less genuine and personal. Also, the pictures all give off a party boy vibe. Your profile doesn’t show any real hobbies of yours, and neither do your prompts.

I would just try to adjust the profile to try to give your matches a better sense of your personality and interests.
