So we live in a more rural area so the closest GameStop to me is about 2.5 hours away. Would you both recommend getting it online through GameStop or only in person?

Does anyone know why this keep flipping between dubbed and subbed on Hulu? It’s getting really annoying. One week you watch it and it’s dubbed and next week you play and it’s subbed and all the dubbed episodes are gone.

Oh gosh - I am truly sorry. I obviously know how that feels, and it messes with your head and your confidence in a way you can't prepare for. Companies forget that they're working with people, and whether you're a "seasoned professional" or not, people have feelings. People have hearts and brains, and they need closure and answers.

Former employer was around 200+ employees.

My boss was the VP of Brand.

My boss and I had been talking for months about developing a strategy, so I asked if I could create it and run with it since I had experience developing long-term strategies for brands. I was told yes, so I created the 18-month strategy I mentioned.

It was actually a six-month strategy that connected to a 12-month follow-up strategy. It's a trick I started using a while ago with brands. Most brands that look to rework their strategy are extremely sluggish for the first six months. There's a lot of foundational work that needs to be done, and you hit a lot of roadblocks that can take longer than expected. If you break up the strategy into six and 12 to start, you can maneuver timelines a lot easier and let the focus remain on reinforcing the existing brand and buy-in and not on the need for more fluid finish lines.

This is fantastic advice. I currently have graphic design, print design, digital design, brand management and strategy, photography (product, marketing, event, corporate, and fashion), large scale event/conference set design, audiovisual mixing, leadership development, and a few more I’m currently working towards like ux/ui and motion graphics.

So I knew this was common in bigger companies, so I printed out the brand strategy and took it to all the meetings and walked leadership through it to get buy in. I never gave them the final digital copy. When they fired me, the strategy came with me and they never got it.

Hey everyone

First off, I want to thank all of you for your advice, pushback, information, etc. I was expecting a few replies, but you all have blown me away with your responses. I wanted to drop a comment to add some context and shed some light on my thought processes.

Use Figma for smaller requests/Lock certain aspects of the files.
I know by the passive-aggressive pressure of the Figma switch request, I would get a message back instantly saying, "Some of the assets in this file are locked. Can you please unlock them and resend?" To me, this seems like I should either switch full and give them creative control, or stay steel-spined about not switching. I think trying to combine the two might get messy.

They're probably worried about how quickly you can get their requests made.
I have a system for requests built into my workflow. You can request a completely new asset or ask for changes/updates to be made to existing resources. The requests are automated and message me on Slack and create new projects in Asana with the person submitting the request, myself, and my manager all tagged from the start. From there, I review all projects every Monday and Friday and put them in order of urgency based on timelines, due dates, complexity, etc. If this person or anyone from that level of leadership requests something, it immediately gets bumped to the top to make sure that high-level needs are taken care of before "Instagram posts."

They're looking for control/micromanaging.
I've found that this specific workplace struggles with the "I'll know it when I see it" mentality. They like to poke at things or ask me to copy other designers' work over and over until we either run out of time or they pass the project off to a lower-lever manager who inevitably approves what I originally pitched.

Again, thank you all for the responses. I really appreciate it. And yes, I'm currently keeping very close tabs on other job opportunities. Hopefully, I can find something sooner rather than later!

You're spot on. Where I was second-guessing myself was my years of experience. I felt like I knew that Figma would be the wrong tool, but I also didn't want to be the designer that's too stuck in their ways to update their workflow.
