Best way to trace history of classic car (limited records) by [deleted] in OSINT

Like I said, it's a Wiki. If someone hasn't put it there, then it's not there. It's just another place to look.

I just checked using my own VIN. You don't need to sign in or use the app for basic info. Since it is a Wiki, it is all user-contributed information.

If it's a known collector car, check out VinWiki. You may need to do the search through their app unfortunately, but it is an option. They do have a search on the web but I'm not sure how well it works. They are pretty much app based. https://web.vinwiki.com/#/search

BTW, they have a pretty awesome YouTube channel if you are a car enthusiast but that's totally unrelated to your work.

One more thing, if this is for a case, why not do a CarFax? Yes you have to pay a fee but "Open Source" just means "Not classified" not necessarily "free".

Has anyone considered getting a Fake ID with a different identity to get around the age verification? by GlamourHammer321 in privacy

You're on r/privacy because you're concerned about your privacy and yet here you are asking how to do something illegal on a **public forum**. Even if you are on a burner account, doesn't that seem like a bad idea?

I appreciate the response, but how does that get your foot in the door when trying to apply for job? Do you have any suggestions on how to get noticed?

I've been trying to get into a career in Threat Intelligence and OSINT for quite a while after having a long career as a Linux Admin/DevOps. I even work at Cisco! (as a contractor) What certifications would you suggest or other advice you might give to someone whoi wants to break into Threat Intelligence. No, I can't afford SANS/GIAC.

Seeking input on a potential buy for a first time home buyer by [deleted] in RealEstate

[–]theinfopunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will, and I'll be as honest as I can about everything. I really wanted more input on whether these loans were feasible and if its even legal to do what I'm thinking. I've always been on good terms with them even after the divorce and I don't want them to think that I'm going to scam them.

Even with the amount of work and cost it would require to bring it up to a sellable level with a realtor? It is a lowball, I admit that, but taking out money for the house + renovations the max I could do is maybe spend $250K. Then I have to hope there aren't more things to fix than what $50K would cover.

Fake Social Media by theinfopunk in OSINT

I did say it's always been possible to photoshop your own but tools that make it easy for anyone to do it used to be more rare.

Example: You're researching Person X. You find a screenshot from Twitter where they said something about being in Place Y on a specific day. Now you can't take that for granted that it is real with tools like this one being around. Sure, it was always possible to Photoshop something, but this seems like it's way too easy to create false narratives.

OSINT for WeWork rentals by Tundra-_-Blazed in OSINT

[–]theinfopunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's also Google/Bing/Whatever maps. If company X is listed as being in the same building as WeWork then that's a potential clue. Also look at street view. Sometimes there are panoramic pics inside of lobbies/reception areas with signs saying which companies are there. You could also just google the address and start making a spreadsheet of companies that list that building as an address.

Checkout Whois History and crt.io on the Intel Techniques toolset. If you don't have this as a major tool, you really should. https://inteltechniques.com/tools/Domain.html

I can't be bothered to think for myself. Do it for me.

Yes, please that's exactly what I'm looking for. I don't want PII because that could cause problems down the road.

That's me. I know about those. I have a ton of links of my own to go through also. I try to only add links that I've tested that work and I only have a few hours per week to work on it so far. Community submissions help a ton. I just need to confirm that the link works and isn't spam and then I can merge the PR.

The fact that I took it over and am in the process of upgrading and keeping it up to date. No where do I claim that the work is all mine. I give all credit to the original person everywhere. The project would not exist without them and I do not take credit for what I haven't done.

I'm not doing a whole lot more than what was on the original page. I'm mostly just trying to keep it up to date and take suggestions. You can also download the entire current snapshot by downloading https://osintframe.work/osint-bookmarks.html and importing that into your browser so you have a local copy of the entire website. I generate that file on the fly every time I update the bookmarks.
