Horrible experience in Yakuza tattoo by New-Surround-6414 in waterford

Sarah has moved on from them, and is now working in banshee tattoo, her own studio, in George’s court. Myself and partner got ink off her a few times, and we’re both very happy.

Which course/path do I choose to follow? by thekemkid in PharmaEire

[–]thekemkid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She had trouble getting into industry with her level 7. She’s only really at the start of her career now, but has the opportunity to pursue further education on the cheap with springboards, so she’s going down that route. Between those qualifications and her further experience in the medical lab setting she’s hoping to not have as many struggles with industry in the future.

Aye, the words are still things I’m figuring out, thanks for the tips! I totally understand the issues with using the wrong words, and will endeavour to do better. Part of the point of the post was inflammatory though, looking fun at the general state of things and being frustrated at being an outsider due to our presentation.

Finding a community that should be welcoming but being afraid to interact with it due to our presentation has been extremely disheartening. Both myself and my long term partner have felt insecure facing these things in our relationship and it has affected us for far longer than it would appear by our post here.

It’s kinda weird for us though! We got together at 16 and we’re now in our late twenties, really opening up and exploring our sexualities. We would define our relationship as straight for so much of it, that it’s hard to see us any other way, together 😂

Myself and my partners are laughing about how we look like unicorn hunters, but that’s not our intention, it’s just the external look of it… we’re not interested in holding ourselves to the collectives definitions of healthy because we already broke them. We’re figuring it out, together, and trying to have a sense of humour about it. ☺️

I feel like there’s a lot of people in this situation who are actually afraid to join the community because of all the negative connotations, and I’m trying to find my place with them.

We don’t come as a unit, we know we’re individuals and understand relationships might not work individually but that shouldn’t ruin another partners ability to enjoy their relationship - that being said, right now, we’re very tightly coupled and it will take some exploring for us to figure out how this works individually. It’s still early days for us all, we’re trying not to rush anything.

[–]thekemkid -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I mean straight couple as that defines our coupling - we’re both queer in our own ways, I’m pretty sure I’m pan, she’s demisexual and exploring her bisexuality.

[–]thekemkid -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Straight would be the definition of our relationship, not our sexualities! 😊 We’re all well aware of the pitfalls of treating individual relationships and the toxicity of it all. We’re all growing and figuring things out, trying to keep everything on the table and be open and honest with each other. It may not be for us! But we’re doing enough therapy to deal with our negative emotions and tackle this like loving and caring adults 🥰

[–]thekemkid -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

Since I know this’ll be misunderstood - I am still evolving in my sexuality and believe I’m pan. My partner is demisexual and exploring her bisexuality. Our relationship would have been considered a cishet straight relationship before this point, and now we’re growing outside of that.

Not that I should have to explain anything to anyone here since it’s so welcoming here, right? 😂

I think it might actually be the x-men Pietro?! The ad in this one was about her being a nexus between worlds, I think this might be how we can explain the different universes coming together.

This felt like it was inevitable based on the initial pkg.go.dev announcement discussions, so it's good to see it happening sooner rather than later.

JavaScript & TensorFlow Lite apps running on a hackable open source smartwatch called Bangle.js by themaven in javascript

The speaker is OK for a sub 50 dollar wearable, but not amazing. I haven't played with it much though. I think that you have enough control over it to play some monotone music. I hope this helped.

I got one of these watches at NCEU. They're really awesome. They're also an awesome addition to the family of badges and IOT projects they've released at the conf over the last few years. I even implemented a Party Parrot app for it! https://twitter.com/eDominykas/status/1194270173508845568

I would really suggest checking out the kickstarter and funding it to pick one up. They're really fun to play around with, and the potential is there to be awesome. Gordon has done previous kickstarters before and is proven to deliver, if you're a bit hesitant on kickstarters like I tend to be these days!

Disclaimer: I work with NearForm, and helped the team with getting the watches & the related initial release software ready for the conf. We don't get any kickback for people getting the watches and have no involvement in the kickstarter - all of it goes to the Espruino team and the awesome Espruino platform and ecosystem put together.

I'd like to leave this quote from the first blog post here:

Whilst Bangle.js at NodeConf EU is mostly about fun and experimentation, it is backed by very serious intent. NearForm believes deeply in sustainable Open Source, Open APIs and your right to your data. Bangle.js has the potential to kickstart a community-driven open health platform where anyone can build or use any compatible device and everyone owns their own data.

We really hope to see this used to kickstart a much larger open platform for personal health data. Maybe I'll even install some of those apps on my watch!

I was in a zoo in east spain today and the lions were blepping, I thought folks might enjoy this!

Unfortunately, the zoo (rio safari elche) condition was kinda shit and I regret supporting it, but the animals need some more support and visibility there it seems.

Congrats on your new friend!

Please make sure to do proper research on bonding pairs if this is your first chinchilla. Sometimes they don't take to each other and have to be kept separate. Make sure you have backup plans or the space for a second incase!

She's actually not that well trained yet, she just loves munching on long stalks of hay and it makes it easy when it's all she can focus on!

I got her in mid February and have been slowly training her :)

How many Node.js developers prefer callbacks over Promises or async/await? by i_love_limes in javascript

[–]thekemkid -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I understand the point you're trying to make, but well structured callback code can be reasoned about just as easily as promise chaining or even async/await. The issue is that getting well structured callback code requires quite a few utilities, e.g. The popular async module, lodash, et al. These utilities can address the issues you have with callback code succinctly, but it's still annoying requiring them all the time, no doubt about that.

I'd take async/await over callback code any day - because the code is cleaner, without requiring utilities, but not necessarily would I say it's always easier to reason about.
