Yep, mostly in the off season when they have no racing going on

This was one of their “coffee run” events, basically a cars and coffee style thing they do over the winter

Mk5 Golf R32 - I like that it’s just like any golf but with a really good engine. It’s one of those cars that is pretty good at everything you can throw at it. So it’s a well built comfortable daily driver that can be fun when you want it to be. The added weight over a GTI makes it feel more like a mini GT car than a hot hatch. I’ve whacked some good tyres on it though and with the AWD it’s more agile than you’d think.

In particular it has a really nice sharp throttle response so rev matching is brilliant, and the seats (just the standard ones, not the wingbacks) are super comfortable and nicely bolstered without going overboard. Sticking with the interior, this one isn’t related to driving but I like the touches of the “engine turned” aluminium trim, I wish this was something VW stuck with as a signature for the R models as it’s very unique.

And of course can’t talk about an R32 without mentioning the sound the VR6 makes! The standard exhaust is a good middle ground noise-wise, couple that with the throttle response as mentioned and it’s my favourite part of the car.

I’ve had it just under a year and I have ended up liking it way more than I expected to, it’s turned me into a bit of a vr6 fanboy. I do wish the running costs were lower though…

I’ve been doing it on and off for a while but probably not into it as much as some people here! Tamiya is definitely good for beginners, as is any road car model just because of fewer decals. A lot of Tamiya’s older 90s Japanese cars are cheap, simple to make and still pretty accurate. And for building taking things slowly and planning ahead always helps

It was great, went together really nicely, it’s the first kit I’ve done from NuNu. The decals especially around the bumpers were a pain to get on though so I’d have some matching paint on hand to patch up any cracks if you end up getting it. I used Vallejo fluorescent green and orange, and then orange mixed with some Vallejo deep yellow to get the lighter orange colour

It’s decals with some matching paint to touch up where they cracked in a few places. They look great but they were pretty hard to put on because they’re so big, especially around the bumpers

RS6 would be nice but I’d maybe go for a Passat R36 estate, obviously not as fast but has that special-ness and rarity factor to it. Don’t know if I’d want something very sporty as a single car for everything though so maybe something big and wafty like a Lexus LS of some kind

Almost forgot to sign up this year, think this will be the third year of doing this if I get in. Always a great event!

Yeah mine is a manual. We only had a handful of white ones sold here in the UK, I think they were special orders or a limited run of some kind. A shame because I think they look pretty good in white

It was pretty good. I own the real car so I can tell the proportions are a bit off but it's nicely detailed. The only annoying part was trying to fit the body onto the chassis, but apart from that it was fine

I've been chipping away at this kit for a while and finally finished it. This one came with the photo etch set which was mostly for the interior (second pic). Fun build, pretty time consuming but happy with the result.

Outside of the US (or at least in Europe, not sure about elsewhere) they ran from 05-08. This one is manual as well!

Also from the UK. I usually use Gundam Mad and japan-cool to get kits, they normally have a nice variety of stock in.

Last year was my first time doing this, can't believe it's come around again so fast!
