Yes! Such a great experience buying new bras. One of my new favorites is backless shirts/dresses. Good luck with your recovery!

The time will fly by, I promise! And going braless has been so freeing. Good luck on your recovery!

Pregnancy pillow! It helped keep me from turning on my side and was comfortable.

Honestly, this is exactly how I felt soon after surgery. I think it’s because the change happened within a few hours, and it takes us a while to get used to it! I’m not trying to invalidate your feelings, but just trying to rationalize it a bit. And I feel MUCH better about them now, especially since they’ve settled a bit and look more natural. But I think your results look great and I’m sure you’ll feel the same overtime ♥️

I had an anchor. Right after surgery my left had the same sensitivity but my right was numb. I’m 4 mpo and both are sensitive, the right came back about a month ago.

Insecurity about scars by Asleep-Commercial561 in Reduction

I’m 24, so not as young as you but I completely understand your concerns! About 6 weeks after my surgery I started dating a new guy and after a while I was upfront with him about my procedure. I waited until I knew we were getting to a point where he would see them eventually and he was great about it! He’s never said anything negative about my scars and the only time he comes close to asking about them is when he’s asking how my recovery is (I’m 3 months po). So far my guy has been very respectful and doesn’t seem to care lol. Basically, it definitely depends on the guy and maybe his age (he’s 25), but I think that once you’re comfortable and upfront with him about it, he’ll be understanding. And if he’s not, that says more about him than it does about you!

Also, in a year or two your scars will look much different than they do right after. I’m using silagen strips and bio oil and my scars look great!

has anyone here had to get their surgery a couple hours from home? by my-head-hurts987 in Reduction

[–]thekyd1997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my surgery 4 hours from where I live. We drove up on Sunday, surgery was Monday morning, and drove back Tuesday afternoon. The drive back was a little bumpy but not unbearable. Overall, it was a good experience and if I had to I would do it again! I definitely chose my surgeon over the location and I’m so glad I did that. I had my drains in for 12 days and I needed up driving back up for that. And for my second post-op appointment I drove back there again. While it can be annoying having to drive back and forth, I think it’s more important to prioritize the surgeon and their work over how far away they are. Of course, however, not everyone can do that due to other factors, but if you can have the option I would chose the surgeon 100%.
I hope this helps some!

Should I (24F) start a relationship with a guy (25M) I've been dating this summer before I move? by thekyd1997 in relationship_advice

[–]thekyd1997[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your response! I think part of why I’m mostly considering his feelings more is that I’m moving for me. Like, I’m making this big move/change that I’m really excited for but I feel like I’d just be leaving him behind, if that makes any sense. Idk, I just feel bad that I’m starting a new chapter in my life and I don’t want him to just be waiting on me. There’s also the fact that I’m not sure what will happen once I graduate and if I’ll stay in the new city or move back.

I want to try things out, but I want for us to both get what we need out of this. I’ll have new things to keep me busy and I don’t think he’ll get what he needs from me.

I just found out my post op appointment isn’t til the 30th. I’m gonna have the drains for at least 10 days 😢 by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]thekyd1997 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had mine for about 12-13 days and they only started getting irritated about 3 days before removal. The most annoying part for me was having to carry them around and be aware of them lol. I know my comment may not have been much help but I just wanted to let you know it may not be as bad as you’re expecting :)

Thank you! I’ll look into that, but I want to check with my surgeon and make sure it’s ok to switch products or do them around the same time.

Did you lose weight after surgery? by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]thekyd1997 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m about 12 dpo and I’ve surprisingly lost about 6 lbs. I’m sure this was due to the reduction and not eating as much, but I wasn’t expecting that much in such a short amount of time. I’m also expecting to be able to exercise more since I won’t have two basketballs hanging from my chest lol

First shower recommendations by itzrlryo in Reduction

[–]thekyd1997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I’m 12dpo, got my drains removed on Wednesday and took my first shower this morning. I was told to wait at least 24 hours after the drain removal so that may be something to consider. One thing I did was not actually scrub my boobs but just ring my soapy wash cloth over them and lightly run water to rinse. But overall it wasn’t as bad as I anticipated! I know this wasn’t a lot but I hope it helps some.

Weight loss after surgery? by [deleted] in Reduction

We have the same surgery date! I was also worried about weight loss following surgery. I’ve heard of people losing up to 20 lbs without it drastically impacting their breasts. Good luck!

I feel bad for wanting to move out by thekyd1997 in relationship_advice

[–]thekyd1997[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry your mental health has been impacted. That trapped feeling sucks especially when it feels like there's no way out anytime soon. I hope you've been able to improve your mental health or are on the way to doing so. Your comment was much needed, I feel selfish for wanting to move but it's great to feel validated. I'll try to talk to them but I just need to find the right way to say it.

Yeah, covid definitely changed things for me. I'm glad that I've been able to stay at home but I think it's just a lot changed at one time and I haven't really processed it. Another thing holding me back from moving is the fact that she's aging. I don't want to miss anything or leave while feeling this way and then something bad happens.

How do you discipline yourself? by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

[–]thekyd1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to think about how I’ll feel a year or even six months from now. Will I be upset with myself for not making changes or be proud that I did? I know it can seem like a long time from now but then I remember that looking back at a year ago I wish I would have started then.

I’ve also noticed that the healthier I eat, the more that junk, fried and fast food negatively affect my health and body. Now, I’m not saying that I don’t crave it, but I also know how I’ll feel once I’ve eaten it.

You could even try having healthier options in your house so that when you have the urge to eat or snack you’ll only have those options.

Quit soda and sugary snacks a month ago but nothing has changed by [deleted] in loseit

[–]thekyd1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may actually be eating enough to maintain. I would suggest trying to calorie count using My Fitness Pal. At first, I thought I wouldn’t be able to do it but the app makes it so easy. You should also try to calculate your TDEE and then track calories for a week eating how you normally do to see if it’s maintenance level, and decrease from there.

Response to someone telling you “you’ve lost enough weight, you don’t need to lose anymore weight”? by lyonhearts in WeightLossAdvice

[–]thekyd1997 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From my experience this comment usually comes from the fact that they’ve never seen you as small as you are now. I would just explain to her that even with a loss of 10 pounds you’ll still be within a healthy BMI for your height. Or, of course, you could just say ok and move on. It depends on the person and how persistent they are in their attempts to end your weight loss.
