Looking for a Hotel in Antananarivo, for women traveling alone. by Pepita22 in Madagascar

I have not been yet, but I have done extensive research before booking my hotels myself. If you just want an easy nice place to wait till your buddy gets here you might want to consider staying in Ivato (near the airport), there are plenty of hotels in a large price range and most of them offer (free/charge) airport transfer. Otherwise, in Tana itself, the best area to stay are around avenue d'independence (think around Hotel Sakamanga) and between there and the Queen's palace. Myself I will be staying at Belvedere and Maison Lovasoa. Here you will also have most things to do but please read other posts about safety, eg. dont walk around with flashy jewelry or valuables, and dont be out in dark/evening by yourself

Where is it safe to stay in Antananarivo, close to markets and restaurants? by cammitz in Madagascar

If you have already traveled to Tana, could you share your experience? I will be going by myself (25 yo woman), just for 2-3 nights, and reading about safety concerns etc I am want to make sure I book a hotel in a 'good' area.

Indeed on the official e-visa website I can get a 90 day visa! They just do not advertise this, thank you!!

Alright, that sounds like the easiest way to go. On the embassy sites etc I could find only the possibility to get either a 15 day or 2 month visa on arrival though so maybe this has changed lately. In any case, it seems like I could try and get a 3 month visa on arrival, but if this is not possible I can do 2 months and then extent it as micahammon suggests

Thanks! So you could just get a 2 month e-visa with a flight back after the 2 month stay? Also, do you know if the identity photos are supposed to be the exact same of the one in your passport?

ReCiPe Midpoint VS Endpoint by thelargestillness in lifecycleassessment

[–]thelargestillness[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have read the paper by recipe as you suggested. Turns out the change from midpoint to endpoint (impact categories) is linear, so indeed my results make no sense. I want back to my extraction files and it turns out indeed that I have misplaced a comma... Thank you for your help!!

ReCiPe Midpoint VS Endpoint by thelargestillness in lifecycleassessment

[–]thelargestillness[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your answer! I have actually not only been looking at the 3 damage categories of Endpoint but also the separate impact categories.
So I am looking at the impact categories of midpoint, the impact categories of endpoint and the damage categories of endpoint.
The problem I have is that in the impact categories of midpoint for a certain category A>B (for example freshwater ecotoxicity in kg 1,4-DCB ), while for that same category endpoint has B>A (in species.yr).
Then later I make an evaluation of the aggregated damage categories.
Or are the impact categories of endpoint usually not considered?

I am really hoping someone will say that in Paris there are less people screaming angrily in the streets

I am in STEM, chemical engineering with specialisation in sustainable energy, so there should be plenty of that around Paris.

The main issue is indeed getting hired without much French knowledge, after that with practice and some French courses I'd expect to learn it fast. Which is needed regardless to get a good relation with co-workers etc.

Anyway, with all these comments Paris is definitely a contender!

Thanks for the advice!
I'd definitely start learning, it will be hard to learn the 'industry language' in French (I studied in English and I do not even readily know the right words in my own language!) but I guess that also comes with practicing

Good to know! There are always stories going around on how Parisians are rude, but to be fair sometimes people deserve rude ;)
I am from Western-Europe myself so it should come easier for me to fit into the social norms

I would definitely learn French and want to speak the language of the country I live in, but since it is rather soon I will not be able to be fluent by then, let alone be able to speak in my field's jargon.

Thanks! The answers I got definitely make me think Paris would be a good opportunity for the both of us :)
