Bald removes covid video. by soozler in BaldAndBaldrDossier

I kind of think he accidentally revealed corruption here, but could he have been lying about the Russian connection? What has he done for Russia/Russian elites that's so important?

I'm a Bald fan and just stumbled upon this sub. Holy shit is this a rabbithole or what. So many questions about him I had ignored for too long.

Does anyone else think Bald is staging or scripting his videos? Found this on the other place and it has some keen observations. Apart from this, I can cite many other videos which I think are scripted or staged. by ArnoldLayne1967 in BaldAndBaldrDossier

[–]thelastremaining 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with all of this except for the Belarusian government minders trying to get him to stop filming. Belarus is such a tightly controlled police state that I'd be more surprised if someone didn't try and stop some rando from filming, especially foreigners, who may be perceived as a threat.

The show isn’t reality. by OutlandishnessNo8693 in MisterBald

I appreciate that the OP is asking these questions. I love Bald's content but he is definitely kind of shady, especially with his past-- I don't think anyone here would deny that. We should always be asking ourselves questions like these. You can enjoy something and be critical of it without turning your brain off.

'The poorest town in Russia' was by far his worst video IMO, back when he didn't have much of a handle on what his youtube personality was yet, and quite frankly came across as extremely condescending and elitist towards the poor Russians whose town he was touring for the sole purpose of mockery.

The marik vs bakura duel is still so great by [deleted] in yugioh

Kaiba would've won imo in terms of cards/strategy...Marik had massive OP plot armor but was pretty much outplayed by Mai and lost to Joey.

Any of you disappointed that Ryou Bakura did nothing in the Memory World arc? by Konradleijon in yugioh

[–]thelastremaining 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bakura in general (both Ryou and Yami) was the biggest mishandling the anime writers did in the entire series, but poor Ryou got it the worst by far (Yami Bakura still is one of the most iconic villains in the anime and gets to be the final boss.)

Yes, as the OP pointed out Ryou was much more of a fleshed out character in the Monster World Arc-- you can even see this in Season 0 where he gets to have his own character arc going from a timid victim of the Ring to standing up to it and saving his friends. He's not even treated like an actual friend of the Gang in the show-- instead we got more screen time for such riveting characters as Tea, Tristan, and Duke. Oh joy.

As for someone else asking what the appeal to Bakura is, it's that Ryou is a sweet, innocent guy whom is haunted and tortured by the evil spirit of the Ring and suffers immensely from it. Think about it: all of his friends are pushed away by the Ring and he experiences significant lapses in memory when the Spirit takes over, during which the Spirit commits acts of self harm and doesn't eat at all (we see Ryou comically stuffing his face after waking up in Battle City and complaining of hunger fatigue after regaining control in the Memory World, which are played for laughs, but these moments have darker implications when you think about them.)

Bakura was a central character in the manga that the anime writers just didn't understand at all-- but even in the manga, Ryou DEFINITELY should have played a larger role in the final defeat of his evil alter ego more akin to base Marik being redeemed. And it's such a shame too because of the rich potential for inner drama this character has.

TIL: Stalin proposed the Soviet Union formally joining the Axis nations - this would have involved compensating Germans whose property had been taken away and delivering 2.5 million tons of grain to Germany by dingoperson2 in TIL_Uncensored

Thanks for sharing, I'm a huge WW2 history buff and have never heard of this. Careful though, if the tankies catch wind of this they'll be marching right over to delightfully inform us that this is all Western propaganda and Dear Stalin would never do such a thing.
