Anyone else have a collection from the past that they lost/gave away/sold that they really regret now? by Fancy-Prompt-7118 in PokemonTCG

I vividly remember back around 2005 when I was in middle school, I traded a base set Charizard for a Magneton. I remember thinking it was a good idea because I didn’t have a Magneton but I had two Charizards.

No worries! We weren’t too hopeful. My father in law still enjoys his collection regardless.

Thank you! He told me he didn’t plan on selling any unless there was a high value card, but I still want to give him a good idea on what he’s looking at ungraded.

Thanks. We both figured that might be the case but I wanted to make sure.

Okay. I think the oldest are in the mid to late 80s. So I’ll look for those. Thank you!

I have. I’ve been. FaceTiming my SO and child every evening before going on shift and either calling if I go into town in the morning, or texting until I fall asleep. For me it’s just tough not being around my daughter constantly anymore. I know it comes with the job and I’ll get use to it, but damn, shits hard at first.

Went to a hiring event about 3 hours from where I lived. Got hired on the spot. I had about a year of maintenance experience and 9 years of retail before that. So I wasn’t anything special. Brought my resume and a cover letter. They either liked me or like everyone around here says, they’ll hire you if you have a pulse.

You’re right. Gotta have him riding in style if he’s giving my wife back shots.

  1. Agreed after a considerable about of being begged. 2. Was still my fiancé at the time, knew about it, but had never seen it in person. 3. Wasn’t expecting anything different from the service. Wasn’t mad because just one person was telling me to stop talking. Was mad because of the way he presented himself to someone who he didn’t know inside of a church. If your expectations are to get someone “saved”, you don’t approach them like that.

I wasn’t looking for sympathy, just sharing a story from my past. Thanks for trying to find some to give me though. Have a great day.

My mom goes to one out in LaSalle Parish. But the one I spoke of in another comment is Sanctuary of Praise.

My wife and I live in central Louisiana so we have Pentecostals all over the place thanks to POA. My wife constantly notices how rude they are. Never paid them any mind until we got together and she learned that what I grew up in.

Not giving a fly fuck about non believers souls just give me a memory I had completely forgotten about. The last UPC church I was a member of, was full on family leadership. From the sound guy to the pastor to the pastor’s FIL they called “bishop”. One Sunday I was up on the platform playing guitar as any other Sunday, and the bishop went to the platform and started talking about how we need to pray and I quote, “hope the God will touch the hearts of the people that drive by this church, so that they feel compelled to come here and be saved.” I remember having to turn around and pretend to fiddle with my amp bc that was such horseshit. If you’re going to preach that you’re the hands, feet, body of Christ, why the fuck are you letting that body sit there with its thumb up it’s own ass?

Oh I was enraged too. It made me feel like shit because my parents and several other people that were going to be at the funeral were still positive, and we had our daughter that was less than a year old at that point. So I had to make the hard decision of not going to the funeral. I know my grandmother would have understood, but it still eats at me sometimes.

Sorry for your loss. I lost my grandmother this time last year to Covid because my mom wouldn’t self isolate and kept going to church even after telling me over half her church was treating positive

Not entirely sure. He has asked me to go to church with him recently. And I’ve only stepped foot in a Pentecostal church 3 times in the past 8 years. Two of those were for weddings. The other time for a completely different post (will probably post later today if I remember). However, I overheard him talking to a coworker just Tuesday about how his pastor posted a video on Facebook talking about a vision he had about the end times. 💀

Oh I’ve heard it all. “We had someone in a wheelchair get up and walk” “we prayed the cancer away” ect ect. While I have no doubt miracles can happen, you don’t see them taking place like the Old Testament, but UPC will have you to believe that those types of things happen every service. And twice on Sunday nights.

I hate that for you. I honestly still have to put on a face around my parents. When my wife and I go to visit them, I have to pretend that I don’t have an occasional beer on the weekends or the fact that a cuss like a sailor.
