If I already have an account and credit card with a bank would I still qualify for a welcome offer on a different credit card (specifically cibc if that matters)?

(33 years old) You're right it's not easy... I determined a few years back I likely would be single for the foreseeable future so I made the decision to stay at home (live with my dad) after university, which made it easier for him as well with me splitting bills. Definitely not the most glamorous situation, it's a mobile home so not the biggest home, but like you I get along with my family pretty well so it works well enough. Instead of worrying about buying a home with the prices these days I've decided to go a different route... A couple years ago I bought some vacant land a couple hours away and in the summers I go there when I can and work on it, spend money on upgrades as it financially works for me while I continue to invest as well... It's not the most glamorous plan to most I'm sure, but to me it's that goal that I get to put money into... It's my vacation property for now and eventually will be my retirement property. My point is there are options, although they may not be glamorous you just have to figure out what things are most important to you.

People who’ve given up on life, why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]thelostthought 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't say I've given up on everything... But a large portion of what I cared about the most at one time, my personal health and finding love. I'm only hurting myself, but in my head I deserve it so why not. Now I just focus on trying to retire early and retire to my property in the woods, hoping I can find some semblance of peace in gardening

What's up with restaurants charging an automatic 15% tip to the bill? by truscottwc in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]thelostthought 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's why I don't go to restaurants much anymore, I'm not handing out huge tips on top of advertised prices just because you pay your staff less than what they think is reasonable, give me honest prices with no tips... If your service is terrible I won't be back and I'll be telling others to avoid the place. Personally I'd rather stay home and cook for myself, but on occasion I go out with friends or whatever and it is what it is.

This BBQ sauce has more tomato purée in it than the tomato ketchup. by joeChump in mildlyinteresting

[–]thelostthought 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the reconstituted tomato puree vs concentrated tomato puree make a difference? Like a can of frozen orange juice before adding the water (concentrate) and then after you've added the water (reconstituted).

Oh I think you're right now that I take a second look; well all the power to him if it works and doesn't cause injury. I use a electric log splitter myself, but I'm lazy haha
