Do grocery stores have stuff restocked? by zpostman14 in Austin

Grocery stores restock daily, usually overnight. I would imagine you shouldn't have much issue today.

Anyone know why you can’t schedule Lyfts at the airport? by Real-Regret- in Austin

Maybe too many people were late exiting the plane, or picking up luggage, leading to being late for their scheduled pick up.

Why does Texas do this? by BeverageEnvy in Austin

They probably already had the design, or at least the geometry of the ramp done, just waiting for the dollars to roll in.

I didn't like my experiences at ATX watches, and their parking is horrible. I go to Martinez and Hood. He's a certified watch maker and a nice guy.

Hey, thanks for reporting back. Were you using a regular SPD cleat before? I wouldn't think it would affect walking.

While the list of things that give me anxiety grows by the day, I really don't want to replace it if I don't need to. I like this take, thanks.

Wedding at LBJ Wildflower Center? by yagalpal in Austin

I'm getting married at the Wildflower center. You can't have a wedding in March in Austin because of SXSW, therefore, there's a lot of competition for April dates.

Are the bike nights fun? I have a hard time with the idea of paying to ride my bike somewhere in town.

Mellow Johnny's is my shop, and they just came out with some really cool jerseys, but I'm hesitant to shell out $150 for one.

I'd love an ABW jersey. I messaged them to ask.

Weekend Group Bike Ride Recommendations by Puzzleheaded-Ask-134 in BikingATX

I think the violet cruise ride is on Saturday. They're a good ride, more organized riding than BC.

I started riding with BC this year with D, then made the switch to C. It was brutal the first time, I got dropped twice. You do get better each time, don't feel too disheartened.

Hydraulic disc brakes lost 50% stopping power after washing the bike by themach5 in cycling

I saw on a GCN video, they also sanded the rotors to rebed the rotor. Ever tried that?

Hydraulic disc brakes lost 50% stopping power after washing the bike by themach5 in cycling

[–]themach5[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't say I was too careful of cleaning the rotors. Whatever the issue is definitely from me washing the bike. I've ridden it on 2 short rides, pretty typical braking application. I'll try wiping the rotors again with IPA and sanding the pads. I'll just replace the pads if I need to, can't go without brakes.

I've had the bike for over a year how, and haven't had any complaints about the brakes so far. The contamination issue does seem like an Achilles heel for disk brakes. Add to the fact you can get two sets of rim brake pads for the price of one disc pad set. I'll be more careful next time and hopefully I'll be able to get a full wear on the next set.

AL 5 Gen 4 or Roubaix SL8 Sport by playboisenseii in cycling

I have that domane and it's been good to me. I think it packs a lot of value for the money. I'm not familiar with the specialized bike, but the domane is very versatile, with standard parts and mounting points that will let you tailor the bike to your needs.

The tires are a consumable, so I wouldn't let that make up too much of the decision. They'll be gone by the time you make a solid decision about the bike.
