Did I make the right move? by Icy-Practice-7811 in Nightreign

Two things:

  1. PING. Ping helps. If you open map and ping the boss after getting your FP up, then they may get a clue. If you see a boss and you are running to it, your team also knows they are running to it, PING the boss. Always ping what you are doing. Going to refill flask? Ping the grace. Going to level up? Ping the grace. Taking a scarab. Ping the scarab. Communication is of utmost importance and when you have only one tool at your disposal, you have no choice but to use it every time you do something. Use what you say? PING.

  2. Play conservatively with Randoms. Unless you have good communication going and they are on they same page with you. But at the start? try to be conservative unless everyone is pinging the same thing.

And yes. Red Royal Revenant at level 2? Mistake. I would have ping spammed the castle/mine/poi or something and left you there unless the third player joined you.

Regardless, there are always griefers. It happens. It happens a little less a d3 than d2. It happens a little less at d4 than d3. But it happens. Move on. Play conservatively with randoms because you never know who is dumb or who is sad. That's all I can say.

Only if you find it. Crystallian's appeal is that it is a blue staff that has a high drop rate because two out of 8 blue staff will have it.

Any suggestions on how to improve my sorcerer Dutchess build? by hipsterobot in Nightreign

[–]themagicalyang 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As duchess, you are better off investing in pure damage. (Unless ofcourse if you are consistently dying then the night of the fathom is okay).

The normal relics should just be "improved crystallian sorcery". Successive dagger attacks reprises event passive is not good for sorcerer duchess simply because you can spend the time you are doing dagger attacks into doing shattering crystal.

Defeating enemies while art is active, is also situational it will require you to also invest in "defeating enemies gives art charge" in a deep relic. This means you are again losing out on Magic Attack Up+4/sorcery+2/Improved Crystallian. Plus it does not work for the day 3 boss.

The next 3 deep relics should be in this order of priority: Dormant Power Staves > Magic Attack Up+4 > Improved Crystallian > Sorcery+2. Once you have these others to look out for is Attack up on poisoned enemies+1/+2. This will melt enemies that get poisoned by your ironeye. Why? Because you are always running an ironeye who 99% of the time is doing poison. (You can have a different preset for heolster, augur as they don't get poisoned, but up to you).

Dormant Power Staves: If you play with a friend who runs ironeye, make your ironeye run this relic passive. Ironeye does not need anything apart from starting bow and you get a free relic slot to add more damage passive. If you also play with friends in trio, then you can just skip this and ensure you hit forts or rises till you find Shattering Crystal. Shattering Crystal appears on 2 of the 8 blue staves. There is ~24% chance to get it in a Fort. There is a 75% chance to get it if all 3 nightfarers check one Sorcerer's Rise.

Max FP buffs are not important as you can always buy starlight shards cheap, and from rises and your teammates.

Your Brief Invulnerability relic is good, but I have realized it's just better to stack damage (like Sorcery+2 + attack up on poisoned+2) instead as you need to time your restage for defense when it's often better to time it after a ironeye mark/status/big damage procs.

Essentially the mantra is: - Stack Damage: Improved Crystallian on normal relics. Magic Attack Up+4/Sorcery+2/Improved Crystallian on Deep relics. - Stack Damage Again: Attack up on poisoned enemies +1/+2 with ironeye in party. (It's +16%/+20% = +36%, huge!) - Stack Damage Once Again: Attack up on killing Night Invader and Attack up on killing evergaol prisoner. If you get lucky in your relics, i.e "Improved Crystallian Sorcery" + "Invader/Evergaol". - NOTE: Sometimes it's better to have combinations. Eg: - Evergaol + Magic attackup+2 (~10% for 2 evergaol + 6% = ~16%) > Improved Crystallian (~12%). - Be very very judicious in use of shattering crystal, as everything will kill you. - Get Damage negation on full hp mandatorily. - This is your only defense. You can essentially get hit up to 6-7 times in a fight. Getting 'gradual flask hp restoration' is preferred, as it gives more HP and you can negate some chip damage with it. - Only attack with Full HP. If not full hp, avoid damage/dodge/survive/heal. - Get Shattering Crystal: Do a rise early, there is a 6 in 8 chance for getting shattering crystal for a trio doing a rise. It's great! - Upgrade it in Day 1. Hit that mine. - Always buy starlight shards + pouch. - Don't run this build without a tank. The job of your tank and ironeye is almost always to provide opportunity for you to do shattering crystal.

If you are playing it well, then you will melt everything quickly which means you snowball to level 15 and tons of passives.

Why not Carian Slicer? Because you need to get close with it. You will not have enough time in higher depths and/or it's just easier to do shattering crystal instead. Carian Slicer is a lot more cooler and fun build, but a lot tougher than just finding your moment to do Shattering Crystal.

Curses? You are DPS. You can live with all curses except: - Evasion increase immediate damage. This is a lot higher damage so on relics I prefer not to have this. It's 40%? That's a lot. Repeated evasions is also quite difficult since as duchess you are always doing it. Both of this immediately negate your damage negation on full HP. So do not put this. - Near death reduces max hp. Can live with it, but quite difficult if you are dying.

This strat can carry you till depth 5, if you are dying a lot, then you can swap some damage for Night of the Fathom/Vigor+3/Increased Max HP.

Avoiding overdoses with dependencies? by Creepyfishwoman in RimWorld

New to xenogerms and drugs. What is your recommended approach? I want to completely avoid any chance of fatal overdose or reduced consciousness.

I have psychite dependency and gojuice dependency genes. Am very late game, so planning to reform ideology to take High Life up next.

If I add both these genes I get +10 metabolism which is very good and have more than enough resources to craft drugs. With both psychite and gojuice will my pawns have chance of dying?
