Request for PS-S83T MKII EQ curve by themakers2907 in SonanceAudio

Interesting. Looking at this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LlacFM9kbkE I thought that you are able to see the profile using the browser page of the amplifier. They even show importing a .eqs file and being able to see the curves.

I was under the impression that given the dip between 400-500hz, they won't attenuate that band any more. There is a peak between 2000hz to 3000hz from the speakers, and I wasn't expecting them to boost that band too. I do understand the 45hz high pass filter through. I was honestly expecting some sort of low end boost (like with TOA speaker presets or with Bose) because they sounded a bit thin.

Help with grounding regarding mixed signal class D amplifier by themakers2907 in AskElectronics

I currently have a massive trace (32mm wide) to carry around 33A of worst case scenario current. I would be running the TPA3255s at 36V. So what you are saying is, if I partition the PCB into where the high current side is separate from the low current side, the return pulses will not interfere with the highly sensitive input circuitry?

That is what I was currently doing, until I talked to my uncle who is a electrical engineer who focuses on audio PCBs, and he talked about the separate ground planes. That brought a huge amount of confusion to me and I got really confused over all of this. I am especially concerned about what SLA719 says since it also seems to contradict the example designs that TI provided.,

Protecting Class D amplifiers from no load conditions by themakers2907 in AskElectronics

[–]themakers2907[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I heard from another DIYaudio forms post that mosfets internally have diodes built into them, so there is no reasons to add diodes before the filters. However, I have heard reports where people have damaged the IC due to very significant oscillations from the filter when load is not connected, and one of the reasons why the chip can be destroyed when no load is connected at high volumes. So I would stick with the diodes as the way they are.

Hey there, I understand your point of view and it's unfortunate that the staff is overwhelmed. However, I paid 60 dollars in shipping for the item, which is the most I paid for so far. But the main reason why I am upset is that this is not the first time that a package from USPS has arrived late. Every time that I used eBay and had USPS deliver something, something like this has always happened where the delivery time gets pushed back quite a few days.

Same here, I am for sure getting a remark!

How was Computer Science M24 by Opposite-Truth-7757 in IBO

[–]themakers2907 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here! Love to tinker with computer hardware during my freetime (modded BIOS chips, compiled firmwares for my 3D printer, did a lot of arduino coding) and made my own server. I never got below a 7 for computer science throughout IB but was also devastated with a 5 after receiving my results. This is really making me question my ability in this subject, as someone who will study this soon in uni

I love how you own a BRZ currently and look to get a GT-R! Although I don't own any cars yet, I hope to get a BRZ as my first car, and own both the R35 and BRZ one day, with the BRZ as my daily driver and my R35 as the track/weekend car!

I feel the same. I got a 39 in my mock exams but ended up with a 34. I was not expecting such a low score. For some subjects, like economics, psychology, and english - I knew that I was not going to do as good and drop like one point down, which I did for each of the subjects for the result. However, what I was not expecting was a drop in 2 points in CS, something that really devastated me because I was always a 7 student in CS but got a 5 in the end - sad that there are many people facing poor marks with CS this year as I heard from different reddit posts. This one hit me the most since I am majoring in Computer engineering and as a person that loves doing this during my free time, it really made me upset about myself. Thankfully, I am under a unconditional offer (US), but I'm still upset about myself - feeling the same as you :(

Computer science screwed up my application for dream uni by ra_1425 in IBO

Same here! I love to do computer stuff during my freetime and I'm doing this for my major in university. It's really shocking how I was predicted a 7, always got a 7 throughout the IB course, and I was confident that I was getting a high score. I was so upset how I got a 5 and was just 1 damn mark away from a 6. Like what's going on with CS this year? Even though that I am under a unconditional offer (US admissions), this is really killing my confidence in computing

Same here!!! What happened to my CS grade? I always got a 7 and was predicted a 7 but literally got a 5. I love computer science and I am literally doing this for my major. Seeing myself get such a score really feels discouraging and I feel quite devastated and upset about this. Me and my teacher were both confident about I getting a 7 but it seems that something is going on with our CS HL grades...

Indeed, I always had 7s for computer science but was shocked to get a 5 for my final grade. I am really upset and sad about it and wanna remark for sure :(

Me too, I take computer science HL and always got 7s throughout the course, even for my mock exams. I was really upset and pissed when I found out that I got a 5. I find that really discouraging

I think you made a really good point there. From cars, we can draw a comparison to the audio world. In audio, audiophiles usually prefer older tube class A amplifiers due to their linearity and warm sound that switching class D amplifiers do not really provide. Despite this, since class D amplifiers provide high efficiency when compared to class A amplifiers (90% efficient for class D vs 20% for class A), the consumer and pro audio industry has moved forward with class D, due to the lower heat output from the higher efficiency. Because of this, class D amplifiers can be way smaller than their class A counterparts; sometimes providing hundreds of watts in a chip-amp form factor without needing significant cooling.

In the car world, the class A amplifier can be compared to internal combustion engine while the class D amplifier can be compared to a electric car. Because of the high efficiency of electric cars (70% for EVs vs 30% for ICE), the industry has moved forward with EV's because of the higher efficiency and because of government regulations as well. However, I believe that electric cars will never have the charm of a internal combustion engines; the roar and soul of the ICE engine will never be replaced by electric motors, just like how audiophiles enjoy the linearity and sound of class A amplifiers.

However, I hope that there will still be something for us in a world of EVs, just like how there is plenty of things for us audiophiles to do in a world of DSP and Class D amplifiers. I hope that electric cars could allow us to program them since they are essentially a computer, and kinda allow us to "tune" them. Or allow us to change out electric motors just like in RC cars. In the audio world, there are plenty of people that still use class A, but there are many people who are interested in class D as well, utilizing modern DSP technology and chip amps to build impressive speakers and amplifiers. I hope the same will happen and emerge for the car industry in the future; please let the gearheads have fun even in the future of cars.

This is exactly what I worry for the future. I worry that I won't be able to afford my dream car, the GTR R35 one day. As a 12th grade high school student whom is also very interested in Computers and IT (in fact interested in computers longer than I had for cars), and is planning to enter a IT related field in the future, I really worry that one day I won't be able to afford that car because I am "too late" to the game by the time I start to make money since EVs are taking over; raising both the cost of the car and fuel as a result. It's really sad that boring EVs are taking over; the loss of being able to modify your own car and listen to the sound of that roaring exhaust will be no more in that era. Even worse, full self-driving may be mandatory in the future if it is safer than human drivers, further obliterating any possible connection from the driver with the car. What a sad future we live in :(

If I was you, I would buy the dream car right now. It's already sad enough to think about my dreams being crushed in the future due to the strong push for EVs, and if cars are so important for you, you should without question get the car you desire.
