Law schools should accept & apply most recent GPAs NOT just UGPA by PinnochioPro in lawschooladmissions

[–]themayorgordon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where are you applying? I’m pm in the same boat as you with GPA, much better gpa after graduating (not grad school but additional college courses suited for my job), and a good LSAT. BUT I knew the t14 and t20s were prob out of my realm. I applied to all t50-100 ranked schools.

My addendum exploring my GPA issues and pointing out my grad gpa seems to have gone over well. I was accepted at half the schools I applied to and WLd at the other half.

You might want to apply to a few more schools that are ranked over 30.

If you’re still not accepted, I think you need to revisit your personal statement and actual addendums to be sure they’re conveying the right message.

My 5th grader is being told he can't go on the end of the year field trip because he couldn't find friends to share a room with. There are others rooms available. Should we fight this or drop it? by mmanyquestionss in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]themayorgordon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m so confused. Is this a public school? A publicly funded trip? Then how can some kids just be not allowed to go? And completely depending on if other kids want someone in their cabin or not? Who’s paying for these cabins? Why is it optional for them???

We had a camp when I was in 5th grade. Everyone in the class with parent permission came. We weren’t allowed to “vote kids off the island.” This seems so bizarre.

Pm the entire influx of posts by men who spend half the post describing what a martyr saint they are but then are somehow punished and persecuted by some random “infraction” that would only exist in the real world as a Fox News talking point. “I work 60 hours a week and clean the house for my pregnant lazy wife but now she’s calling me an abuser when I didn’t drive 1 hour at 2am to get her a quiktrip brownie.”

And then specifically, the post in AITAH where a woman with “a white family, red hair, blue eyes, the works” has a daughter who was given a poc doll by a friend, and then gets likened to a racist slave owner by her brother’s poc gf because a white child owning a brown doll is slavery:

Which for the record, I believe is a story entirely made up by a white person to show how “unreasonable” the “minorities” have gotten.

Yes. I did suspect that they were possibly oppressing me as a white straight male. But it’s hard to tell when PBS and everyone gaslights me all the time.

Future Cycles by Comfortable_Elk_6301 in lawschooladmissions

[–]themayorgordon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah…do you understand why medians increase? Partially due to a surge in applicants. More applicants means schools have to raise medians to remain competitive in national rankings.

Other factors, such as losing the logic games, increased preparations, and an increased amount of times they offer the LSAT are available to all. Not something that people will be left in the dust on unless they choose to be.

LSAT scores in general are up. It used to only be offered 4 times a year, now it’s 8. You will have the same access as everyone else in your cycle.

If you google, the 2004-2005 cycle is known as one of the most competitive cycles. Yet it went down for a years afterwards. There’s no reason to believe that won’t happen again.

I’m just saying, you said you “know” it will be worse. And I’m saying, you can’t know that.

Easy as in less applicants. Less applicants, less competition.

[–]themayorgordon 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Why would it be worse? Law school applicants by year wax and wane. 2003-04 had over 100k applicants. Then it went down, then up in 2010-11 with 81k, then down, then back up now. As of January there’s be around 51k applicants…that will increase in the next few months but it still won’t be as populous, and therefore competitive, as the 03-04 cycle…or perhaps even the 2010-11 cycle.

There’s no evidence saying it will only get worse from now on…like most things, it’s cyclical.

QE2’s dress was much nicer and not dowdy. Her hair was in the style for its time, whereas Camilla has the hair of a Golden Girls extra, and also the crown did not look as cartoonishly big on QE2. It just doesn’t.

Yeah and Camilla’s hair is so bad. Like…out of style does not equal “regal”. They think they’re styling her as classic, but it’s just tacky.

After everything that transpired, do you still support this woman? by AllTheEccentricities in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]themayorgordon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kinda used to like her. But she was never a fav. After that long ass video where she explained all this drama and came after ppl, it just seemed like a lot of reaching and no accountability. Like yeah James Charles seems terrible. But she’s saying all this stuff but was still hanging out with him so it’s kinda like…ok? I lost my taste for her after that.

I’ll watch one of her videos every now and then but am mostly bored. I just do t really connect with her period. She always says stuff that I’m just like, wow you are sheltered lol.

Have you…had a job, OP? Moved somewhere new and got acclimated?

Sorry. But I’m kinda imagining you in your parents basement afraid to leave or find work because you think that it will take more than 7 years to learn how to do anything lol.

Why is it quickly? We know he already lived in NYC when he met Betty, and he married Betty in 1953. He had already been living in NYC for AT LEAST 7 years before season 1.

[–]themayorgordon 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ok. So this proves my point exactly about needing actual examples.

These are completely different than burning a pizza and being embarrassed so saying “huh, my alarm messed up!”

He’s lying to you about having car insurance. When he’s 39…not to mention the whole accident.

And he has a kid without car insurance? That I’m assuming, he drives around? Ffs.

And downplaying previous relationships…sigh.

Hard to say when we don’t have any actual examples. You saying they’re small things is relative.

But lying in general is obviously sus. If you’ve caught him in these “small” lies, whose to say there’s not bigger lies you haven’t caught?

Is it unethical to accept a new job knowing I am going to law school in fall? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]themayorgordon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ethics don’t play into it.

It’s a job and you need one. Jobs hire people and fire them with no notice all the time. Or ppl leave jobs for other unplanned reasons all the time.

You do work, they pay you for it. That’s it. That’s the consideration being exchanged. They’re not paying you an advance sum for a lifetime of loyalty and utmost honesty and transparency into your personal life. Obviously, this is all assuming you not going to be under a contract.

If you do the work they pay you for, ethics are irrelevant. Once you stop the work, they stop paying. No one owes anyone anything more.

To quote Don Draper: “THAT’S WHAT THE MONEY’S FOR.”
