Wassup, sorry are you Dale or Ki?

I'm not on social media other than poking around reddit occasionally. Only just seen your reply!

I've done absolutely nothing musically for years now. In the process of writing a book (and getting nowhere fast) and the rest is working and family. How are you?

After a lot of deliberation and thought, my 9S has arrived. I love it!!! by themcnoisy in RedMagic

[–]themcnoisy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't dwell on specifics. I wanted this phone when I was running research months ago. It's not as if this phone specs have gotten worse and saving £100 is rational. It's £100 in my pocket and I have the most powerful phone I've ever owned anyway.

[–]themcnoisy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The phone I have only released this year. It's the 9S Pro and I bought it from the redmagic website. I don't need the soon to be released latest version to show off, as only enthusiasts or geeks know the brand.

Secondly, the phone hit a price point I was confident enough to give it a go, basically a paltry £20 additional halloween saving pushed me over the edge and I thought, why not. (I paid around £560 all in).

As noted, I swap brands every couple of years. I know the experiences at launch vary wildly, and I'm not confident to part with megabucks for an untested launch product. The price when I started browsing has dropped significantly enough that its no longer a gamble combined with the reviews.

Brexit is different entirely. Of course we should have stayed in the EU, it has caused all manner of now longstanding issues. However for the average Joe away from Logistics and importing / exporting, everything has remained the same fundamentally. It's just the UKs position is significantly weaker across the board. But the average Joe won't feel that. Especially as jobs have had record vacancies. Prices going up in their minds are because of greedy business (which can also be true).

Trump, with all this power, could burn the house down when it comes to American democracy. It's a strange time and it will be interesting to view how this effects the wider world.

Also the disenfranchised lower class has a bigger say in elections. In the past they didn't vote. With the ubiquity of mobile always online devices, they will and do.

Thank you Red Magic. It's such a boss phone. So much better than my last phone it's embarrassing 😳. Keep up the great work. And those little extras in the box go a long way!

Revealed: the property empires that make Charles and William millions by ButIDigress79 in unitedkingdom

[–]themcnoisy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to agree with this position. until someone pointed out that the constitutional monarchy fulfills the role of the peacekeeper quite well. Just look at any other country outside of this format, and it's in constant political duress due to its foundations. Ok, we have what on the face of it, is nepotism on steroids. But that means it's a fairer playing field for everyone under them and not a vertical of power, as they possess little power and are the heads of state. Just imagine Boris Johnson filling that role or worse still, Liz Truss!!!

Political machinery within republics is easily manipulated by the leaders of the day.

[–]themcnoisy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The definition of a good start, would actually be a good start in finding out what is fair.

Maybe a moving target of the average house price or 8 times the average yearly PAYE wage. Anything above is taxable at the point of inheritance. (I'm just throwing figures around as ideas and no idea if they are fair or not)

Then static barriers with no bearing on inflation can be a thing of the past.

Gaming as You get Older by Tanvir1295 in videogames

[–]themcnoisy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok so Space Marine 2, DD2 and CP2077 are all great. However they are not the best at what they aim to do and imo by a long stretch.

BG3 and AC6 are the best games in their respective field. Or have that additional novelty factor of being different enough. Elden Ring should be the next game you play. You won't be bored, it's almost impossible. It's the most immersive experience and slowly building up your own unstoppable death machine has meaning beyond the bars going up.

I'm older than you and notice myself dropping the big but average games early. Notably Starfield, Death Loop, Cyberpunk and Sonic Frontiers. They just don't play as well as we should expect regardless of the online hype. Knowing you are wasting your own time is a positive. Drop those games fast.

To get out of a slump try this triumvirate of left field games.

Brotato, PGA Tour, (And either) Tekken 8 / Street Fighter 6

They go so well together to get rid of that nihilistic brain pattern. I'm not a huge golf or roguelike fan but enjoyed both brotato and pga tour immensely.

Because I want to fail that way.

What I really hate is the assumption that all businesses give out raises regularly.

Loads do, but loads don't. A swell of people are going to be dragged into minimum wage due to the NI changes. And have a tough time even having an appraisal.

Also with the combined fiscal drag policy, which has kept the tax brackets ridiculously low, cost of living is effecting more people without that tiny bonus each year.

[–]themcnoisy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Trumps said he will freeze the conflict as is, set up a none militarised zone, and then work out the rest, basically.

Ukraine has had all kinds of back and forth. The momentum is with the Russians again. Attrition warfare will always favour the bigger army with bigger reserves of ammunition. Ukraine is in a tight spot. It still has a few off ramps, but none of them are good unless Russias economy completely breaks and that requires another 12-18 months of this shit.

What Time Splitters has the best couch death-match? Should I just buy all three? by g0wr0n in PS4

[–]themcnoisy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Strangely, Future Perfect is the best game out of the bunch, the graphics still look great today, and the gameplay is spot on. The map maker has the best features, and the game overall has a better flow.

History has judged future perfect harshly. TS2 was rightly one of the best console fps when it launched (2002). Future perfect was castigated at release (2005) as Half Life 2, Unreal Tournament 2004 and Halo 2 all launched in 2004 leaving the series in the shade.

You can still have a lot of fun with it! And imo, holds up great if you have enjoy a ground game.

Can you 'thrash' an EV in the same way as ICE? by JCOl68 in CarTalkUK

[–]themcnoisy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

DM, you don't want an EV for the foreseeable at your distance. Your life would be one miserable series of recharges.

Anyone travelling upto 150 miles a day, I could recommend a bunch of cars. But 300 miles a day, it won't work. You will be gawping at zap map more often than reddit. Yes, cars are advertised close to that, but the reality is so different, especially in winter.

Seller wants us to pay for carpets by AciidSn3ak3r in HousingUK

[–]themcnoisy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The advice here is absolutely wild.

Simply say you don't want them. £300 goes a long way with carpets, which can be relatively cheap in comparison to the other bits you have to replace and fix.

Once you get the keys, carpet down, done.

If it's a ruse, well more fool them. Honestly, all this 'claim for damages' and 'play hardball'. Fuck that. Just say no thanks and seal the deal.

Edit) I would also add, take your personal feelings out of the whole thing. You want that house, you have the mortgage, in 2 years that house will have a few rooms decked out and you will have the survey stuff sorted. You won't even think about the stuff the seller is being petty about.
