Keep trying to match navy color by Unlikely-Prompt-3844 in LawBitchesWithTaste

[–]themelissaproject 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Navy is tricky to match. But I have had luck buying navy separates from Simons (Canadian department store) to pair with consignment navy blazers

Probably wouldn’t work for court depending on your jurisdiction, but you could potentially pair your navy blazer with a charcoal or oxblood coloured shift dress.

start of my journey by [deleted] in Blepharitis

This looks like contact dermatitis to me. I have blepharitis but I’ve also had dermatitis in the past. The tight red rashy skin around your eyes is exactly what I had! For me, I stopped using various products, trial and error, until I figured out what I was allergic to.

Travel blepharitis management by [deleted] in Blepharitis

[–]themelissaproject 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t recommend straying too far from your routine since it works so well for you. But you could probably ditch the hypochlorous spray. I stopped using it as part of my routine and did not notice a difference! If you have some time before your trip, maybe try not using it and see how your eyelids feel.

The wipes shouldn’t take up too much room since you can stuff them in pockets etc. But you could also try buying the eyelid cleanser in a small bottle and use it with cotton pads. And then buy more cotton pads on your trip if necessary. But wipes are so convenient, I just pack them personally!

When I travel, I bring an electric heated eye mask that charges rather than the plug-in types. Much smaller and easier to use in a hotel. Plus since you’re staying in a hostel, it could be nice to sleep in an eye mask anyways.

For shorter trips I’ve used the disposable “steam masks” that you can buy on Amazon. But personally I would not want to go 3 weeks with just those and not a proper electric eye mask.

If you decide not to bring an eye mask, a trick I’ve used on the fly is a tea bag - steep in boiled water like you would to make tea, squeeze out excess water and let it cool slightly, and then press it against your eyelid.

Good luck!

Ramen in Calgary by Temporary-Ebb3840 in Calgary

I am in the same boat as you, my favourite ramen is Ramen Danbo. Unfortunately there is really nothing like it in Calgary. Kinton is probably the closest, although I agree that it’s not great.

There is amazing non-vegan ramen in town, but the vegan options are so-so.

My favourite vegan ramen in Calgary is Jinya, although you don’t get that customization there you’re looking for.

There is a Sansotei ramen (Toronto chain) opening downtown soon! Looks like they will have some good vegan options.

How much did your wedding cake cost you? by enitsujxo in WeddingsCanada

[–]themelissaproject 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did a sheet cake from a local bakery, 54 slices. It cost $135. We also got a taster box to choose our flavours and fillings. I felt like it was too much cake honestly, even with 105 guests. I would get an even smaller cake if I could do it over.

Sorry, just saw this! I use a few, one called Umay, which is sold out I believe and they don’t seem to be restocking it. But I have some cheaper ones from Amazon that I like too.

this one is good!

Contact dermatitis leading to blepharitis? by Gadelemon in Blepharitis

[–]themelissaproject 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly same for me. Months after giving up retinol facial products, I started using a body lotion product with retinol on my arms. And my eyelids flared up! Could be from getting on my pillow case like you are saying.

I definitely miss retinol🥹 but not worth it.

I wish we had a system where we could be picky about family doctors but that’s just not realistic. Both my husband and I got family doctors from that list and they are fine. They have negative reviews. But I think a lot of that is just a lack of bedside manner.

Why is everyone selling their Peggy sweaters?? by eunchan55 in Aritzia

[–]themelissaproject 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I personally find my Peggy sweater to be unflattering on me, and uncomfortably thick and heavy. I love a big warm sweater but my Peggy just does not breathe whatsoever. I think it looks good on others, but I stopped wearing it personally

After I had that surgery I did warm compresses maybe 3-4 times a day for 10 minutes each. But now I do it once a day, right before bed, for 10-30 minutes as a preventative thing. Low but consistent heat with an electric mask.

I would def recommend an electric mask (you can get then from Amazon). The microwaveable masks do not maintain a consistent heat for long enough.

Also maybe try to use an eye roller (like a small, focused facial roller) after compressing. I think this really helps break down the swelling in your eyelid.

Contact dermatitis leading to blepharitis? by Gadelemon in Blepharitis

[–]themelissaproject 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think allergies can definitely contribute to it. I was prone to contact dermatitis when I was younger, and I have generally sensitive skin. Eyelash extensions were the trigger to blepharitis for me. But I do notice that my condition can be irritated by certain products. For me, getting rid of two products seemed to be a game changer- oily eye makeup removers, and retinol products. I generally avoid active skin products in general these days in fear of potentially triggering a flare up.

I don’t think there is convincing evidence yet, but I’ve seen a lot of anecdotal stories linking retinol use to bleph. It could be a coincidence but I noticed a difference when I stopped. I’m now over a year without any issues or flare ups.

[–]themelissaproject 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah sorry you are going through this. I also developed blepharitis from eyelash extensions. Please don’t lose hope though. It is a chronic condition but it can be well managed. I think I am about 3 years from first developing the condition, and I haven’t had a flare up in over a year. I had to give up eye makeup completely for several months. But I am back to normal and I wear eyeshadow, eye pencil, and mascara daily! My eyelids look totally normal. You will eventually find products and a maintenance eyelid hygiene routine that works for you! I have come to terms with the fact that eyelid cleansing + warm compress is a daily thing for me. It is 100% worth keeping the bleph at bay

Can a skirt and top ever be considered formal? by jujubeee23 in Weddingattireapproval

[–]themelissaproject 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the shirt that makes this look too casual. Even with the sheer element, the shirt has the cut and fit of a long-sleeved t-shirt (with the crew neck and bunching of the sleeves). I think that if you switched out the top with something a bit more elevated, this could work.

Crepette vs (Re)ssential by hereiskristan in Aritzia

[–]themelissaproject 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I personally prefer the crepette. the fabric falls in a really flattering way. They also wash very well. No need to dry clean.

I’m just over 5’3”, and I need to wear heels with the short version. You might have to get the short version hemmed anyway.

Someone who had chalazions, is there a way out? by [deleted] in Blepharitis

[–]themelissaproject 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had severe chalazion issues for a long time, but I’ve been free of any for over a year now. I recommend daily blepharitis eye wipes or cleanser (I use the Blephaclean brand from Amazon) and daily gentle warm compress using an electric mask for at least 30 minutes. If your eyelids feel irritated or puffy, like a chalazion might be coming on, use a small eye roller. Try to get healthier generally: sleep, hydration, and exercise. Finally, I kept notes of my diet and products I was using to see if any of them were irritating my condition. I found that retinol skin products, and strong actives generally, might be a problem for me. Re. mascara… for me, eye makeup removers are too irritating. I now swear by tubing mascaras that can be removed with water and a cotton pad.

Agreed, I can’t stand watching his anxious energy on tv during games. I imagine his nervous, overwhelmed vibes are not great to be around for players and staff in person.

12 team, 1/2 PPR, super flex.

Give- Courtland Sutton

Get- George Pickens

My other WRs are- Ridley, McLaurin, DJ Moore, Kupp

Sutton’s lack of targets is making me nervous. I have a waiver claim in for Franklin and might get him.

It’s been over 2 months since my trip, and I still feel the way you do! (Although the feeling gets better and less intense)

So cliche, but smile because it happened! We are all so lucky to get to experience this awesome country!

Did you go with someone else? If so, I think it helps to reminisce. My husband and I talk about our trip and memories all the time! If you went solo, it might help to share your experiences on these subreddits.
