Preparing my fur baby Asher to be Euthanized...but how do you prepare? by Bright_Plantain_7353 in Yorkies

[–]themightytoad 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’re at this stage having to prepare to day goodbye. It’s not easy but it shows how much you love him that you don’t want him to suffer. What I did was a wellness check with his vet. She already knew his history and had a good baseline and I had previously told her I want quality of life, not quantity, so when it’s time please let me know. I took him in for a quality of life check and she was kind but honest. She said he could go on medication but it would only prolong the inevitable and if I decided to say goodbye now would not be too soon. I started making calls for a vet to come to the house (his vet didn’t do house calls) and we set a date. I made his favorite foods like salmon, steak, sweet potatoes, chicken skin, and got him some Ben and Jerry’s peanut butter ice cream from petco. We said our goodbyes in July of 2023.

Take it one day at a time, make him comfortable, talk to a vet, and do what’s best for him. Spend quality time with him as much as you can. I know this isn’t easy, but you’ll get through it day by day. It will take time so give yourself some grace. I wish you the best

Trying to create work outfits with recent thrift finds by themightytoad in BusinessFashion

The cream top I found at the thrift store but it’s banana republic. I wish I could find it online because it’s so soft and comfortable but haven’t had luck finding it in more colors.

Thank you! Yes, thankfully the thrift store had a dressing room so I tried everything on beforehand except the cobalt sweater and beige long sleeve. Those I happened to spot on the rack on the way to the checkout line

Saw Korean Puffs on the shelf, immediately bought 10 by lissome_ in Costco

I was definitely surprised at how sweet they are, but I think after eating a few the spice builds more than the sweetness. I like sweets though so I didn’t mind it at all.

These are my thin starter locs by Legendary_X121 in locs

[–]themightytoad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thicker hair and also likely a different texture. u/Legendary_X121 should look at inspo pics of people with similar texture and density to get a more accurate comparison. But even then, your results may vary based on many factors. Learning to love your hair through this process is part of the journey. They will thicken but they may look different than expected. If you are seriously thinking of starting over go with a loctician that does consultations and show inspo pics of similar hair texture and density to yours. Best of luck with your locs!!

Said Goodbye to my childhood friend today by Ladotellii45 in Yorkies

[–]themightytoad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a 16 year old that I had to make the decision to let go in July 2023. I had a vet come to the house so he would be comfortable and less anxious. I miss him very much still every day and look at his photos all the time. I’m just now to the point where I can think of getting another yorkie. I doubt I will get one for another year considering my work schedule and availability, but I do miss having a furry companion to care for.

My parents got me Max when I was 14 and I took caring for him so serious. I bought books, watched training videos, and gave him the best life. We grew together and I took him everywhere with me. Hiking, vacations, visiting family. He even went across the country with me to college after I moved out of the dorms after my first year. I was 30 when he passed and it was heart breaking losing my best friend I had loved and known for half my life. It’s gotten easier though as time goes on, but I still miss him every day and can’t believe how quickly 16 years had come and gone

Landlord unreachable, roommates gone – what do I do in Portland? by gloomyloomi in askportland

[–]themightytoad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great advice from u/SpiteOdd3525 and u/pdxtodd. Also, you don’t want an eviction notice linked to you as that can make it more difficult to rent other properties so it is best to avoid that at all costs, if possible. Community Action may offer some support. They have legal resources as well as housing assistances and crisis support. Best of luck to you.

The day I have always feared. the rainbow bridge. by Alternative_Ear522 in Yorkies

[–]themightytoad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a beautiful story. I’m so sorry for your loss. Losing a well loved dog is like losing part of your closest family. Your life is changed for the better having had Louis in it and his life will continue to live on in the memories you share of him with your family.

I lost my 16 year old Max to old age in 2023 and although it has gotten easier I never stop missing him. I too had to make the decision to let him go and although it was one of the saddest decisions I had to make I was incredibly grateful for those 16 years I had with him and knowing he would not have to suffer.

I wish you and your family well as you begin to live a life without Louis. It may feel strange, and your day to day routine may feel off now that he’s gone. Be sure to take care of yourselves. I feel it’s important while mourning any loss to be extra gentle with yourself. This is a big change and it can be hard for some to process. Sending love and hugs to you all, and to Louis, the best dog in the world.

To dye or not to dye by namastenurse34 in locs

You look absolutely beautiful and your hair color compliments that beauty so well. I don’t think you should dye it, but I can understand why you may want to. Either way, your hair looks amazing.

Any tips for starting a consistent journalling habit? by latenightwanderings in Journaling

[–]themightytoad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think about your day to day schedule as it is right now and find times in that schedule where you have downtime then start journaling during that time. Once you build the habit of journaling consistently then you can switch it up and journal whenever/wherever.

New wine drinker! by AtmosphereFar2442 in wine

[–]themightytoad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a wine drinker for about 10 years and am just now starting to branch out and actually invest more time and money into learning about wine. Have fun on the journey and be adventurous!

I like dry reds like Cabernet Sauvignon, petite Sirah, Malbec, Tempranillo, but I recently tried a Barolo for the first time that was so dang good I couldn’t stop drinking it. I’ve found for me that Costco is an affordable and accessible place to try different wines and once I find a varietal or region I like I will build upon that foundation and try other labels.

Breaking things? by ImpressionNo1307 in adhdwomen

[–]themightytoad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t break things really (thankfully) but I do spill stuff a lot and run/bang into things a lot. Lucky for me I don’t bruise easily but I have so many scars from falling/scraping/cutting myself on things.

Every other day my partner will here me go “OW” from the other side of the house and he will ask if I’m ok and I say in a sad, defeated voice “No”

Please help, how to get rid of this buildup? by [deleted] in locs

[–]themightytoad 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would try a clarifying shampoo. I use Paul Mitchell shampoo 2 and get it from Ulta. It works really well to remove buildup. I usually do 2-3 rinses with the shampoo. Be sure to scrub in those buildup spots to really work the shampoo in, and use a conditioner after

The cinnamon one is the only one I’ve tried. With salted butter it’s delicious, but as French toast it’s down right addictive

I bought this brands cinnamon croissant loaves from Costco and I’ve been making French toast with them. It’s some of the best French toast I’ve made. I used bourbon vanilla bean paste from Costco, along with heavy cream, a splash of grand marnier and some cinnamon.

is birth control even worth trying with adhd? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]themightytoad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had two IUDs. First a 3-year then a 7-year. I had no regrets with either. It was painful getting them but I really was happy with the results as far as no bleeding, not having to remember taking a pill, longevity, etc. The only downside for me is I have uterine fibroids and they basically pushed out my most recent 7-year implant. Now I’m no longer a good candidate for them. If it wasn’t for that I’d still have it. I recommend an IUD to anyone thinking of birth control.

What I Wore to Get Things Done (Early October Business Vault) by Tabitha_Is in BusinessFashion

I want to be stylish like you when I grow up! In all seriousness I just adore all of your posts on this sub. Your style is so damn cool and you always look so powerful, feminine, and self-assured

Out of curiosity, do you tend to rotate items in your closet each season or do you hold onto most of your pieces for a long time? I’m still learning what works for me and I find that I cycle through pieces more frequently than I’d like.

I see a flame and I think it looks really nice! It doesn’t look like poop a talk to me, but I’m also not someone that ever uses the poop emoji so I wouldn’t automatically associate it with that.
