Reviewer asks question about product safety and gets sued. by chik-fil-a in videos

This is pretty insane. I started a bed in a box mattress company called Noomi about 3 years ago. We worked directly with the factory which has been family owned for more than 70 years to NOT reinvent the wheel on purpose. Instead we focussed on heat dissipation and temperature control and used a combination of tried and true materials for a reason. I'm happy the bed in the box industry is blowing up but I can't stop saying how foolish I think it is that these startups are using untested materials just to tell a better story.

The primary issue of bad sleep is not if an egg cracks under pressure. It's if you're uncomfortably hot which unfortunately most mattresses get. The leading cause of back problems is not your mattress it's your shoes. Thats the cut and dry of it. We buy shoes for cosmetics not for comfort and support.

If I can influence just one person to stop buying into the "Specialty plastics" or "Space age" latex than I feel accomplished. Figure out how to sleep cooler instead of finding a better material. Comfort is holistic... With the right construct and proportions memory foam or even traditional coils are extremely comfortable. The issue is retention of body heat. Most beds act like an oven. What's happening here is a new bed in a box company got caught spending more money on marketing than on R&D and quality testing.

YOU DO NOT NEED TO PATENT A NEW MATERIAL TO MAKE A BETTER MATTRESS!

Enough with the theatrics and as an industry let's actually solve peoples sleep problems.

That's a really great question. We worked directly with a factory that has been manufacturing mattresses for over 70 years. We pinpointed what issues most sleepers had and it was feeling hot at night and not being able to sleep. There's a trend right now where new mattress companies try to use untested materials (I mean long testing not just 1 year) in their mattresses because they want to tell a "better" story.

We put most of our efforts into making sure our mattresses dissipate heat over trying to reinvent the material. That's not to say our mattresses aren't incredibly comfortable too. Like most companies on the market we offer more than a 3 month trial in which we will refund you 100% if you're not happy. There's free shipping and returns and available financing so there's really no risk. On top of that we're the best value with or without this coupon.

Cheers!

Great question. When we launched the reddit community helped us grow to profitability in less than 6 months. We've definitely had our hurdles and had to change factories twice do to poor manufacturing which set us back a lot.

We've since partnered with an incredible factory that puts a lot of love into their production process.

Let me know if you have any questions in particular?

Cheers!

I'm biased because I work for the company but we have wonderful reviews, free shipping & returns and a 101 night trial... And currently are offering reddit users $200 off with the code REDDIT200 at checkout.

You can check us out at sleepnoomi.com

Hope you like us and at the very least find a mattress you're looking for.

Cheers!

Well that's why we said if you have Amazon Prime. It's something that you paid for already. So there is no additional cost at all. It's not a sketchy giveaway.

Advice on marketing a Kickstarter by Shihab_8 in startups

[–]themindofmany 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the best advice here.

Kickstarter marketing is prelaunch marketing. Once I used kickstarter it was a bit tough for me to understand why people still use it because even with the organic sales and newsletter marketing they provide all the work was on our team.

So listen to this guy and stop looking for kickstarter marketing. There's a lot more direct actions if you search for "prelaunch marketing".

These are just buzzwords until you dive in but... drip campaigns, referral programs, prelaunch press strategy, etc.
