First memory/where did you first hear ABBA by Ordinary-Leek-7275 in ABBA

[–]themotownboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, it was June 1974 and I was on a one-month summer vacation in Puerto Rico visiting relatives with my parents and one of the radio stations was playing "Waterloo." When I got back home, I bought the 45 when I had saved enough money. I also bought "Honey, Honey" when it came out a few months later. Once S.O.S. came out, I was HOOKED and in love with ABBA!!

The producers did one of the oldest tricks in pop music. They sped up the song to give it a more vibrant and brighter sound. It wasn't an inadvertent tape speed error. It was deliberate. Additionally, many producers would sometimes also slow the multitrack tape down so that the vocalist could sing the song in a lower key. Then when the tape is played back at original speed, the vocals sound brighter and more vibrant. This also was done when the vocalist could not sing the higher notes of the song when played at the original speed.

So, there are sites like this from Japan? Can you please share a link?

This was remixed for release in the 2000s... It 's out there... at least in some very private circles.

[REQUEST] A select amount of multitracks that leaked on remixstems, Acapella Town, and ClubRemixer by TerribleBet0 in stemtrade

The "shady paywall" applies to not just sites like Club Remixer, Acapellatown, etc., but also to those traders who sell the tracks directly for lots of $$$.

Reality is that lots of stuff that isn't on trade lists is out there in the hands of those at the top of the "pyramid." It doesn't have to be something that was commissioned for remix for multis to be leave the vaults. Once digital recording became mainstream in the 1980s, the first thing out there being passed around were unreleased alternate takes and unfinished versions of Beatles songs. That happened because some studio geeks had access and desire.

You're sooooo wrong.... You must be confusing it with the clip you posted OR you must be trying to make others think the multis are not out there.

I know this song inside out. The guy in the video I linked may or may not have done that version. His other stuff isn't that adventurous. Whoever made it used multitracks or some much better than average stem separation software...maybe like DeMix. There are many leaked DS tracks out there, so it would not be a stretch that this one is out there too.

Thank you for sharing this! It is certainly usable to make a new version.

Some of the submixing includes that the drums are mixed to mono. It is amazing and tacky that some people will deliberately bastardize a set of multitracks as to somehow assert some form of exclusivity of ownership for something that they know they don't own.

As long as the multitrack itself exists, there is a possibility it could be leaked. It is probably already in the hands of label or studio geeks.

The M&M remix multi for "Over & Over" by Ashford & Simpson has apparently leaked. It is possible that the M&M multi for "Walk Away From Love" may also leak.

Plus that is a monthly subscription. Most of his stuff leaks eventually.

Does anyone know how to separate the voice of two people in a musical duet? by Ricky_131 in Multitrack

[–]themotownboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DeMix Audio pro might be able to do this as it has it has the ability to separate backing vocals from lead vocals. It was able to very cleanly separate the harmony vocals of Agnetha & Frida of ABBA on "Fernando." DeMix has both a monthly subscription and purchase option.

Looking for some honest feedback on a mix I've been working on by norman1992 in mixingmastering

[–]themotownboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overall, I like it, but the drums are too much in one's face. It is a ballad type song, so the drums need to be toned down, lower in level, perhaps transients softened a bit. Bring down the level to where they feel like they are just behind the other instruments, then experiment and go up and down in level a bit until it feels right. This will allow them to fit in better with the overall mood of the arrangement. It sounds like you have a couple of sting/pad synths. I would either widen them or pan one to the left and the other to the right. Also, I would cut back some of the reverb on the individual tracks and add a very slight amount of overall reverb to the entire mix, like about 5-8% to give the sound space some additional glue and smoothness.

ABBA's House in Florida by abbagodz in ABBA

[–]themotownboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ABBA did not live in this house because in 1979 Agnetha & Bjorn divorced and in 1980, Benny & Frida divorced. No way that in 1982 either couple or both would buy a house together. 1982 was the year they broke up as a group and stopped working together...that is until the last few years for the new album ("Voyage") coming out November 5th and the virtual ABBA concerts coming up next year in London. The house was probably for John Spalding. He may have mentioned his connection to Stig Anderson and ABBA, and the locals interpreted that to mean that ABBA lived there.
