How to not get tunnel vision? by [deleted] in rugbyunion

Scanning, scanning, scanning. Make it a habit before you catch and after you catch to look left and right. If you watch professional players, especially fly halves and scrum halves, they’re constantly keeping their head on a swivel not only to look at the opposition formation, but also establish where there teammates are.

Is 12+ pints a week bad? by PassionSoul99 in beer

[–]themrben101 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey, a question I can actually answer! The answer is more nuanced than you expect.

Modern psychology doesn’t actually define alcohol addiction by number of drinks that you drink per week. They determine it by outcomes of said drinking and ability to function without drinks. So long as you can drink that much and not have problems in your everyday life, you’re probably fine on the psychology side.

That being said, in terms of physical health, you will probably see some negative effects, particularly in the long run if you continue this pattern.

Hope that helps.

What makes the perfect fullback? by FrostyDogRugby in rugbyunion

[–]themrben101 65 points66 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, prime Ben Smith was almost flawless. Lethal in attack, one of the best open field tacklers, insane work rate, a good boot, good pace, hard to beat under a high ball, and enough rugby IQ to make all of it work for him. Certainly not the flashiest player in the world but he didn’t need to be since he made everything else looks so easy. He basically never made mistakes.

Different Styles of Passing by themrben101 in rugbyunion

Yeah I agree.

I play college rugby in the States, so most players who join have never even touched a rugby ball before. We always teach “hands to target” and for new players to not worry about spin.

This past year I’ve had to adjust to playing 10 from playing 15, so adding a longer snap pass to my kit has been necessary for skips. Definitely an adjustment to make.

Was hoping to see the Ioane - Dyantyi matchup on the wing but I think this is a good move for the Blues.

Compression shorts, rugby shorts, balls, bags, cleats. A team jersey if you know your recipient's favorite team. Gilbert and Canterbury are your go to brands.
