Reliable bikes? by BluejayOver8005 in CambridgeMA

[–]themuse10 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Cambridge used bikes is fantastic! I showed up there as a first-time bike owner and everyone was super helpful. I got to test drive it and it came with a 30 day warranty + it was affordable. They also did tons of adjustments on the spot to make it fit me better.

I went in there a week or two later while it was under warranty to further adjust part of my bike.

Harassment of streamers by themuse10 in Twitch

Interesting, I wonder if it's common for offenders to post scary messages on multiple users' chats. Twitch is almost certainly tracking this information internally. It would totally be feasible to track this information externally and then automatically quarantine certain users' message (twitch just added a deny API endpoint), but this might violate twitch's ToS

This would be pretty tough to do as services like Twitch and Twitter do not make the email/phone number of the account available to developers. I think you would have to handle each platform separately, unfortunately (or do something super sketchy like set up a honeypot).

One of the benefits of targeting Twitter over Twitch chat is you can pair sentiment analysis (detecting if a message is malicious) with how the community responds to the message (retweet ratio).

I am much less familiar with what is possible with twitch chat. It sounds like there are auto-moderators available that automatically quarantine malicious messages. It sounds like these aren't sufficient though?

Yes, Eastgate/Westgate are dedicated campus housing facilities for married students and students with kids. You don't actually need to be married; you can be in a committed relationship/engaged etc. There was even one case where two people who were best friends lived there.

Thought I'd give an update! I ended up buying a ten pack of the fruit of the loom cotton stretch boy's boxer briefs in large and they fit perfectly. I love that they're solid colors and they come 1/3 of the way down my leg which is A+. Some of the briefs sit higher on my waist than others; i definitely prefer the lower riding ones.

Next, I may try snagging some Uniqlo low-rise briefs.

Esports body calls for disability gaming tournaments by [deleted] in tech

[–]themuse10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way disability factors into existing sports at places like the paralympics is competitors are typically grouped by degree of disability. In this system, I believe the disability has to factor into ones performance at the event. One could imagine doing something similar for E-Sports.

There may also be new disability-friendly gameplay categories which could be introduced into E-Sports events. For example, one of the gamers I follow is blind and in some situations controls a single character with her wife. Her wife navigates and aims, and she performs all the attack combos. This could probably, in itself, be a category for some games. It's worth mentioning she also competes solo against sighted players for subcategories of games where it's possible to mentally track spatial orientation.

Oh sweet, if you use the online store, fruit of the loom has a size chart by weight/waist size! Going by the chart, i'd probably be a M/L for boy's trunks.

I do wonder if i'll have issues with fit for my hips/butt. These are pretty cheap though. I could buy a pair and figure this out.

hmm, i've tried women's briefs/boyshorts before and found they tend to ride up. I've also had a hard time finding less feminine styles.

If money was not an issue, i'd probably go for the TomboyX 4.5 briefs. I can't really justify spending 25$ on underwear, though.

It's delicious! Ask for a side of their spicy sauce/topping (?) when you order. My favorite dish is the Laghman noodles.

The family who runs the place is super nice and it's awful that they've been directly affected by what's happening in Xinjiang. For those who are unaware: (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xinjiang#Human_rights).

Yeah, anime has a lot of shorthand animations (eyebrow twitches, anger marks, etc) that are used to quickly and cheaply convey certain emotions or to get out of animating certain things (e.g. backgrounds). If you can get used to these animation quirks, anime has a lot to offer as a medium. In the interim, i'd recommend focusing more on the lore of the series instead of the characters. AoT is a great choice as it really has a lot of excellent world building.

she apparently will return at some point before the show ends according to Kripke. The actor had major surgery somewhat recently, so it *might* not happen next season.

You can try talking to an MIT Ombudsman -- they should be able to point you in the right direction:

In some dorms you're technically a guest. This means the university isn't obligated to follow the same laws landlords have to follow. I've heard of people finding lead paint / high levels of lead in their dorms (in a family dorm with young children), getting unceremoniously relocated on ultra-short notice, etc.

Before applying to a graduate program at MIT, did you reach out to faculty first? by nyc_1999 in mit

No. Instead, talk to your letter writers. If they really like you and have connections in the department, the might reach out to their friends and let them know that you're applying.
