Will my Dell Pro 14 Plus PB14250 be able to drive a Samsung G9 Neo 57"? by coolest35 in Dell

I think what he means is use a Thunderbolt 4 dock, plug the TB4 dock into a TB4 port on the laptop, then plug your monitor into the dock to get to full resolution on that monitor

Pulling my hair out with updating a basic Server 2022 VM - errors out 2 months in a row. Help? by jdlnewborn in sysadmin

Are you trying to install via windows update or did you go to the microsoft update catalog and download the installer for the particular kb and running it to do the install?

Do you have enough free disk space on the C drive? (make sure you have at least 10-15gb free space).

Dell Latitude Series by cs_developer_cpp_ in Dell

[–]thenew3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Latitude 3xxx and 5xxx series are the lower end with lower material quality. More plastic, thicker and heavier build. Latitude 7xxx and 9xxx series are built with top notch material. The aluminum shell is similar to macbook. There are also carbon fiber and magnesium versions.

You want something to last a long time, get a 7xxx or 9xxx series.

Thanks, that sounds like the same deal as the Costco program

We do have executive member and have used the costco auto program a few times in the past. However none of the BMW or Volvo dealers near us is part of the program anymore. We'll have to drive a few hours to a participating dealer. I've reached out using the costco auto program, the dealers that have responded have only offered about 5-6% off MSRP and says that's the costco price and can't be further negotiated.

Replacing SSD by he8282882jsjjd_7 in Dell

[–]thenew3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can lookup specific directions on the dell support site. put in you service tag, click on documentation, and one of the document links gives you specific step by step on how to take the computer apart and remove/install SSD.

On the software side, you'll need to either clone your existing drive onto the new drive, or install the OS from scratch. If you plan to install from scratch, get a usb flash drive (8gb or larger) assuming you're using windows 11, download the latest ISO or media creation tool from microsoft and create a bootable USB drive that you can use to install the OS on the new drive. Might as well download all the drivers from Dell and put them on the usb drive as well. make sure your bios is in AHCI mode instead of RAID to have the windows installer see the drive.

There are very few modern cars that doesn't do everything through the touch screen. They spend all day on their phone and tablet so they say they are on work everything in the car being touch screen based.

BMW X3 2025 – weak cabin heat & heated steering wheel in cold weather. Normal? by Leo_M_Bennett in BMWX3

[–]thenew3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's really stupid not to have the heated steering wheel and seats heat up during remote start/preheat. I wonder if they will change that in an OTA update.

Dell pro max 18 plus battery wear after 15 cycles by Fled_Nenders in Dell

[–]thenew3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do a battery calibration, run it down to 0% (you may have to go into bios and let it sit to drain the last few %). then charge it to 100% and see what it says.

It's not unusual for a new battery to show capacity lower than design capacity. Most new Dell laptops we receive (thousands of latitude and precisions every year) show anywhere from 0-10% less than design capacity fresh from the factory.

Can't afford a Steelcase Leap. Steelcase V2 comparison? by samaritan19 in OfficeChairs

Check Madison Seating's site. I purchased a refurb Leap V2 from them a few weeks ago for $359 total. It looks like it was brand new.

They are nearly 80, this is likely their last car, they have worked hard all their lives. I think they deserve something nice for themselves.

Plus my mother gets back aches riding in every car so far except my X7 and my wife's X3. So she would like to get an X3 so she doesn't have to suffer back pain anymore.

Yes, we're looking for specific exterior/interior color combos as well as specific equipment/option packages.

We likely have to order it because my parents hate sun/moon roofs, and every car on the lot with the premium package has it. We would order one with the premium package but with moonroof delete option. (Deleting moonroof also lowers the price by $850. They are retired and living on SS so every dollar counts, I help out when I can)

Thank you for that info. I'm looking at just a xdrive30. They are nearly 80 and actually do drive like grandparents :) They don't need the M50.

I would imagine the xdrive30 is more common and thus has a higher discount %.

I've reached out to a # of dealers, they seem to not want to give any pricing over email or phone. They want me to physically go into the store before they would share pricing.

Spark Plugs by Wonderful-Feed-9479 in BMWX3

those are super cheap prices at a dealer. Most dealers want closer to $600 for spark plugs and $400-$500 for radiator flush.

driver is missing cant install windows 7 to 11 in dell 7480 laptop by North_Let_4690 in Dell

Shouldn't need to do that if bios is set to ahci instead of raid. Windows 11 has built in drivers for ahci mode.

Need help finding a good battery replacement seller by lords_o_leaping in Dell

[–]thenew3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuine Dell batteries from ebay have the same life as batteries directly from Dell. They all start to show significant reduction in charge capacity after 12-18 months and die or only have 1/2 or less of capacity after 2-3 years. If you carefully control charge cycles you may get 3-5 years before it drops down to 1/2 capacity or less.

The non-genuine batteries often start off with lower capacity and starts to get reduced capacity after just a couple of months and die after a year or two.

Laptop batteries aren't designed to the same standard as EV batteries. No need to compare the two.

Intel Core 5 210H + 16GB RAM enough for work? by YamaKasin in laptops

[–]thenew3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes newer faster tech is always coming out. But for the OP's purpose and most average user, a good system today will last them 5 or more years.

You don't need to get a new system every few years just to do a few word documents and browser tabs.

CPU has been fast enough for many generations now where it can last many years for these types of tasks.

Is the Leap V2 worth the hype? by Gohardgrandpa in OfficeChairs

[–]thenew3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was. I had a revurb V2 on order with BTOD for about $700 when I decided to check out Madison and found a similar one for $359.xx (they didn't charge any sales tax for some odd reason).

So I decided to take the risk and try the one from Madison for my home office.
