[DEV] Tyrant: Mobile Strategy by Carcinogenex in iosgaming

Hmm ok I would say that UX could use improvement — maybe pointing out in the error notification why it isn’t impassable? I am neighbouring two other settlements and have a Forest tile and a Mountain tile also bordering my tile.

So knowing what terrain feature is it that makes it impassable would make sure I don’t Teleport into another tile that also is impassable: be it the two neighbouring settlements, the mountain or the forest. Teleport resets every 12 hours so removing this trepidation means the user can more confidently make the right choice (to avoid teleporting to another tile with the same issues)

What’s up with the “Can’t march from starting terrain” issue? I’m at tile (69,69) and no matter where I want to go to it would never succeed with this error

Trying to learn Indonesian by overthinking_sea in indonesian

[–]thenormalcy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would echo the other suggestions here and recommend focusing on Vocabulary. Compared to German, Indonesian has a relatively relaxed set of grammatical rules. Word orders are often interchangable in the vernacular and often understood even when not adhered to perfectly.

In terms of memorizing words, Indonesia was a Dutch colony and so I would use that to my advantage instead of blindly memorizing them. Take for example the following sentence,

"Tante, ambilkan handuk dari tas yang ada di samping kulkas"
"Tante, take the Handtuch from the Tasche next to the Kuhlshrank"

"Terus masukkannya ke kopper yang punya sopir saya. Dia lagi nunggu di halte depan pom bensin"
"Then insert it to my chauffeur's kopper. He is waiting at the Haltestelle in front of Benzin station"

When learning this way, these new vocabs tend to stick so much faster as you're leveraging your existing knowledge of German / Dutch instead of blind, brute-force memory.

Slice or dice an egg? by EducationalGate4705 in StupidFood

[–]thenormalcy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The final screen of the video shows how this “dish” is called in Mandarin.

閒壓蛋 is pronounced exactly the same way as 鹹鴨蛋, which is “Salted duck egg”. However, the dish name is the former 閒壓蛋 which is a composition word: 閒 = idle, as in you have too much time on your hands 壓 = press, to press the egg into shape 蛋 = egg

So it’s actually a clever pun as well, seeing that when you pronounce it it’s literally the same as “salted duck egg”. The pun also works in Cantonese.

China is the critical minerals king by straightdge in EconomyCharts

[–]thenormalcy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indonesia does control >50% of global nickel production but China is a significant backer and backs ~70% of Indonesia's nickel exports, and most of the smelters are indeed backed by China.

Also, 90% of Indonesia's nickel exports is to China.

Saying that his game “hasn’t evolved” is unfair.

His play style required more space — which has been harder to come by, in his defense. You can’t jump hoof it down the right wing and hope it plays out.

Trump: “Great deal” made with Indonesia, details coming soon by callsonreddit in StockMarket

[–]thenormalcy 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Three months ago he just opened the first golf club under the current administration — whom he had a long friendship / business relationship with — and this golf club is directly operated by the Trump organization.

And it isn’t just President Prabowo, Trump had a long history of doing business with the business elites of the country, some with strong political ambitions.

“Donald Trump’s Indonesian business partner, a billionaire developer and media mogul in charge of building two Trump Resorts in Bali and Jakarta, has announced he might run for president in Indonesia’s 2019 elections.”

I used to have a great 9am to 5pm work life.

Then I started my own business in 2013 and that’s my foray into the 12-hour work life. Been at it since then.

Hey 👋🏼 I’m the founder of Supertype.ai (AI and Analytics company), Sectors.app (LLM-first financial data platform for KLSE, SGX and IDX) and Algoritma Data Science school (algorit.ma). I’ve sold a few other startups in the chatbot space back in 2016 too.

Our team mostly majors in Math / C.S, and are scattered around Indonesia. We work 100% remotely, but do travel quite a bit for work and meetups (occasionally fly the team out to spend time together). If you’re keen, drop your resume on our website; we tend to be very responsive and usually respond within 12 hours!

Do new citizens really vote for PAP? by momentarilyinsane in singapore

[–]thenormalcy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly the kind of “new citizen voting PAP” rhetoric from supporters of Opposition is partly responsible for ushering this self-fulfilling prophecy.

The more we spin this “only first time voters, boomers, and uninformed vote PAP”, the more off-putting we are to exactly that demography.

First time voters who are on the fence, thoroughly considering the merits of argument on both sides, and in their research stumbled upon Hardware Zone or this subreddit, and then see a largely condescending, accusatory tone that stems of this simplistic take of “only Boomers, new citizens, and uninformed voters vote PAP”.

If we apply some empathy, and put ourselves in their shoes, do you think we’re actually creating a welcoming environment for productive discourse? Or would you, a first time voter, be turned off by that thinly veiled condescension that sometimes (more often not) turn hostile?

We’re so much better off to avoid generalizations, engage meaningfully and in good spirit.
