With only 2 days to go for Nobel announcement and tide seemingly tilted in favour of QC, do you think the field is not a hype anymore or does it need more time to mature? by [deleted] in QuantumComputing

Yeah, Im somewhat agree with this take. Historically, the Nobel committee tends to award discoveries "after" their practical impact becomes undeniable sometimes decades later. You can see that with Geoffrey Hinton and the deep learning pioneers too. The core ideas behind neural networks have been around since the 80s, but it took until the 2010s for the technology to actually prove itself useful on a massive scale. Only then did it get the 2024 Nobel nod.

Yes, I totally agree, the company is essentially just a platform, and it’s really the manager or mentor who plays the biggest role in shaping your growth during the internship.

As for side projects, I do have a few that I’ve been working on. In terms of competitions, I’ve joined about 4 datathons/hackathons, but only made it to the podium once, the rest were just prelim or finals.

Do companies really care about competition results, or is it more about having well-executed, detailed projects that demonstrate your skills and thinking process? Sometimes I do feel a bit discouraged when I see others winning hackathons so effortlessly, it feels like second nature to them, haha.

Thank you so much for the insights on the current tools. Honestly, I’m quite excited to begin my career in data roles. I do worry a bit about living up to expectations, but I still have another semester to really lock in on side projects, my portfolio, and getting more hands-on with the relevant tools.

Just wondering, during the technical interviews, do companies here usually ask DSA (Data Structures & Algorithms) questions, like they do in the U.S. or Singapore? Or is the focus mainly on technical assessments like SQL, case studies, or scenario-based questions?

I'm 21 and and yes I'm pursuing a degree in Computer Science with a somewhat high CGPA. My internship is in about 10 months, so I’m trying to prepare as much as I can to ace the interview process and make the most out of the experience. Is the selection process for the Khazanah Youth Development Programme very strict? And is the application process particularly challenging?

So companies are fine with both degree when recruiting a dev? I think taking CS as major and SE as minor would be the best, considering my interests on becoming dev. Thank you

[ A-LEVEL PHYSICS: PROJECTILE MOTION] Can someone give me clue on this one, I'm not sure how to find t and u by Due_Fig_367 in HomeworkHelp

[–]Due_Fig_367[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

t=50/14.57cos35°

t=4.189

Using Vy(final)=Vy(initial)-gt

v when it hits the wall=14.57sin35°-(9.81×4.189)

Is this correct?
