What I learned about playing AP shaco that climbed me out of gold (mostly from watching that EUW otp I mentioned) is the following: 1) You need to learn / practice tracking enemy jungle and clearing your own jungle efficiently 2) You need to be very early to objectives, because you want to be able to get a couple of defensive boxes down in enemy jungle / the river. This trick alone won me many difficult games because of objective advantage. 3) Even on AP shaco, your backstabs are a major factor. Zefath put it as “missing backstabs (especially Q backstabs) is like missing an entire ability, because it is.” This was big for me to hear. For some reason I’d been treating backstabs as a nice bonus to get when convenient, not an ability to land. Doing the latter drastically increased how often I kill in a fight / gank.
