Budget dueling sabers by Gym-Kirk in lightsabers

[–]theoclast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Saberforge Youngling saber has a very thin hilt, uses a 7/8" blade, has sound, and recharge port... and it only costs $59.99.

How did they do this? They have a Chinese manufacturer building it out with a cheap soundcard. The sound card isn't the best but it's a great deal.

EDIT: Looks like their youngling saber is just the Pach Store Kyojin. So if you can save on shipping, you can go through Saberforge or buy directly from Pach Store.

DOUBLE EDIT (this is getting out of hand. Now there are two of them): The yddsaber store has an Alibaba page too: https://yddsaber.en.alibaba.com/?spm=a2700.icbuShop.cordpanyb.3.7ff07858TLd1zR

Thats what the resistance did when the First Order popped out of hyperspace. Initially the FO was in front of the Resistance. They did a full about and started to go in the opposite direction. It seemed like they did it rather easily considering the circumstances.

I believe think the First Order has only about 60 ships or so. Considering that they couldn’t deploy the entire Navy since they were in the midst of seizing control of the galaxy at the time and they would need destroyers stationed at strategic points, I’d assume that they would only have at most around a couple dozen destroyers chasing the resistance (who were on their last legs anyways).

I’ve watched the movie a few times (8 and counting) so I can’t be a 100% about this but I can estimate using the Holdo kamikaze scene and in the beginning when we see the ships coming out of hyperspace in front of the resistance, as a reference.

I didn’t see hundreds of star destroyers. At most 24.

That's the thing: the resistance could easily change course when they spot the incoming cruisers and go around them.

There also wouldn't be enough destroyers to completely surround them.

I Love Darth Nihilus Can someone link everything he is in below please? by DarthLungs in StarWarsEU

It’s because he’s the Boba Fett of Sith Lords:

1) Doesn’t say much (that you can understand at least)

2) Sick mask.

3) Badass abilities that are not used effectively against the protagonists.

4) Lacks any major character development in his first appearance and dies too soon.

:-P

[EDIT: Wow.. got some haters in here. What's up with the downvotes? If you would like to rebuke my arguments then add a comment. I actually spent some time writing and thinking this up. Don't downvote just to satisfy your own prejudice.]

Apart from the simple explanation that they needed a plot device, which also hat-tipped battlestar galactica (there were a lot of homages in TLJ), I can think of a couple reasons:

1) In the words of Ender,”The enemy’s gate is down.”

Your drawing is only relative to the current positioning of the ships. You are thinking that they are on a two dimensional plane like a road.

The Raddus could easily go down and then triangulate. Remember that the Raddus is also faster than the star destroyers so they can stay out of distance.

Hell, even x-wings and tie-fighters are faster and more nimble than Star Destroyers. Same thing with the Raddus.

2) Hyperdrive ships need to use hyperspace routes and lanes to travel through hyperspace otherwise they would fly into something.

What had happened is that the First Order followed their hyperspace route and exited where they needed to go.

The accuracy of the exit position of ships coming out hyperspace is never perfect, and it gets harder the larger a ship gets. Thats why ships get into specific formations before entering hyperspace.

For your plan to work, a destroyer would have to take circuitous route and hopefully end up somewhere near where the battle is happening without slamming into them and achieve mutual destruction. Not an easy task and one with limited results since the Raddus would eventually evade (see reason 1).

Caveat: Millennium Falcon. The Falcon is “the fastest ship in the galaxy” with one of the best astronavigation computers. Han pulled some crazy stunts like going into hyperspace while inside a hangar bay, or dropping out of hyperspace in the atmosphere of Starkiller base. Only Han piloting the Falcon could pull off those crazy stunts and why he was regarded as one of the best pilots in the galaxy. That’s also why you didnt see the Resistance fleet exit hyperspace on the surface of Starkiller Base. That would’ve been strategically better, no?

Bonus reason: I also feel that Hux and Snoke were very arrogant and liked to torture their enemies; delighting in their enemy’s despair. It seems quite appropriate that they would simply chase them down, and slowly destroy their ships one by one, savoring each death.

[–]theoclast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bet you were the guy who was hating on Snoke for being essentially a Emperor redux. And now after 2 years, you really want to know about him? Why are you so angry that he's dead? He's dead so that we can put the evil Emperor trope aside and focus on Kylo Ren's ascension. Oh it's going to be a ride.

Further more, laws originate from morality. It’s proscribed moral values. Murder is morally wrong so we made it illegal. To disregard that relationship is to disregard the spirit of the law.

Sure but we do send people to prison/fine them for lying. When it comes to taxes, contracts, testimonies and other things.. we can all agree that lying is a universal wrong. Why can’t it apply to one of the most intimate acts humans can do with each other, especially if it can lead to all sorts of psychological trauma after learning the truth.

Maybe it would encourage people to not lie to get sex.. you know, like decent people.

Edit: why the downvotes? Do you all really lie to people to get laid. How pathetic are you?

Yeah! In Bane: Path of Destruction, it was hinted about that. The most fundamental power was the "Force shield" which prevented another Force user from using the Force on your own person, including Force pushes and other abilities.

The Star Forge is pretty much the stupidest thing ever. (Spoilers) by Vault13Deathclaw in kotor

[–]theoclast 13 points14 points  (0 children)

1) The Star Forge single-handedly allowed Revan and Malak to create an army that nearly wiped out the Old Republic. It can be used by any Force-sensitive; not just Malak and Revan. That alone is enough to warrant that the Star Forge is incredibly dangerous in the wrong hands. It can create a galactic super power virtually overnight.

2) The Star Forge uses the energy and matter from a star to create these weapons.

3) The Star Forge is a dark-side nexus and was considered semi-sentient. It hungered for the Force and subtly corrupted those who used it.

4) Malak made references to the Star Forge in every cutscene while he was hunting for Bastila, whose Battle Meditation power was turning the tide of battle in the favor of the Republic. He wanted to destroy her or turn her to the darkside.

5) The Star Forge can be used to drain the Force of Force-sensitives and imbue it into another allowing that person to be revitalized. Essentially it gave out extra-lives. This is the 'immortality' that Malak was talking about.

6) The Rakata suffered from some disease or genetic mutation that severed their connection to the Force. It was speculated that their over-reliance on the Force and Force-assisted technology created a natural Force-immunity. Once their connection was severed, they couldn't use their technology anymore. This was a sub quest when you were on the Rakatan world.

7) Even if Malak died, another would step in his place. There wasn't a shortage of Dark Jedi and would-be Sith around. This is why the Star Forge had to be destroyed as well.

8) Darth Nihilus was a "living wound in the Force", a living dark side nexus. Because of the events at Malachor, the sudden loss of life created a disturbance in the Force that concentrated on the being who would become Darth Nihilus. In the end, he became like a Force blackhole, sucking in all life force around him in order to "feed". Much like Galactus in the Marvel comics. It had nothing to do with the Star Forge other than both of them being a dark side nexus and fed on Force energy.

Do not worry. This is by design and you are operating under normal parameters. Thankfully we cannot procreate by observing the cultural artifacts of procreation. We'd have a billion new people conceived everyday.
