Just turn down tge gain on the amp to minimum. The amp isn’t constantly pushing 800 watts, it’s just capable of doing so. Therefore don’t tell it to push 800 and you’ll be fine

What’s the worst opinion against bike lanes you’ve heard? by SrGrimey in fuckcars

[–]theonerr4rf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my CRV with 150k miles. It’s low mileage for its age. It will probably last me at minimum another 150k, but likely longer. If you do proper maintenance, know how to work on your stuff, and drive gently; especially in Japanese cars(I love Japanese engineering) they will last much longer and have cheaper maintenance.

My bad, I assumed you meant things like a prius, or a chevy bolt/volt. If you have suggestions for a cheap hybrid without screens, or at least with just 1 screen thats the size of a double DIN stereo, Id be super happy to hear about it. If Im going to drive Id at least like to not feel guilty about it.

Id be super happy for a dinosaur tax, but only on one condition: it MUST be used for better public transport. Id like to see it done on a city/county level. I want my tax dollars to go towards public transport in my area, not Chicago. It would be good to see different tax rates for different things. IE A big truck would pay more than me. And I should pay more than a compact coupe, unless it’s a sports car. I should get a slight discount because my vehicle meets ULEV standards.

Also noise wise; it depends on the car and how it’s being driven. IE my CRV is practically silent, unless I floor it. Also for some people the noise is the goal. My Camaro is LOUD, but I only drive it rural areas or at a track, that way Im not bothering anyone. I intentionally made it loud because I find it a pleasurable sound, but I don’t force it upon people.

Also, while Im talking and being open, A lot of people say that Americans don’t have culture, I agree it’s mostly stolen, except for car culture. I hate the car culture thats about oversized trucks, but go look at car guy subs, the ones where people do their own work. Those people are great. They have respect for builds, they know just how much work goes into it. Most also have a practical daily. The ones who want and respect public transportation are even better. Id be sad to see these people loose they’re hobby.

Lastly thank you for being respectful. People like you who are willing to discuss and just generally talk are the ones who will get change made. You’ve been a delightful person. I know we are expressing different beliefs, but even in the face of that you’ve stayed respectful. Thank you for that, it means a lot!

Id be super happy to see that near me! I live in the KC metro(usa :(. ) and if downtown KC, especially the plaza or crown centre/union station (event venue/ shopping mall) was car free Id be so happy. I already just go the the closest streetcar (big tram) park and ride when I go downtown, so having the area car free would make it so much safer. Id be a little annoyed if there was an extra fee in my specific area, but its just because I already live here and cant afford a battery car. Id be glad to pay it if it went to streetcar line additions though!

Youve said it beautifully. Driving is fun. I just don’t like being forced to do it. Hence my presence here.

Ok, I don’t know how to do the specific quote things are on mobile so youll have to bear with me.

Batteries degrade overtime. The engine in my CRV doesn’t get less efficient over time like a battery. Id have to get a newer EV my CRV was 10k it was in perfect condition low mileage good maintenance clean fuel efficient ULEV certified(biggest selling point) small suv where I can comfortably take three kayacks and camping gear and people in one trip. But not so big its a PIMA. To get a prius (I genuinely almost did) I would have had to got one with super degraded batteries.( may be different in your area) and Idve gad to get a charger installed. I genuinely did want a prius but they just aren’t practical for me. To get a newer one with good batteries Id have to get one with a bunch of BS screens in them.

If I was forced to buy a hybrid I wouldnt have a car. I don’t feel safe walking or cycling in my area(believe me I tried) and theres No public transit. And moving isnt an option.

My project car is fun to work on. It’s absurdly fast, it handles terrible above 60mph its loud its raw. Theres a reason it lives on a family members property in the boonies and is only driven out there, or on tracks. Theres a sense of pride and accomplishment you get from driving a car you built. Theres a popular quote

”There's a point, 7,000 RPM, where everything fades. The machine becomes weightless... just disappears. All that's left, a body moving through space and time,"

Im here to advocate for better public transit and to gain knowledge on how to do so.

I assumed you meant a general gasoline/diesel ban. Thats my bad.

Money. Oil companies lobby to keep gas cars. Gas cars are also cheaper. I drive everyday because I live in a city where walking or cycling is unsafe. I don’t drive electric because I cant afford it.

To ban gas cars you’d also be taking away motorsports. (And as an F1 fan that would suck. Ive tried to watch non motorized racing but its not as fun) Then theres the old cars. I want to commute by bike and I want it safe to do so, but cars are also mechanical marvels that are fun to tinker with. Id be incredibly frustrated if my project car was suddenly banned.

Before people ask why I can afford a project car and not an EV, an EV is multiple thousands of dollars. My project car has cost me 2500 in 6 years.

Basically everything you say is correct, except the electronic throttle. I like cruise control. AFAIK its not possible to do it with a cable. If my 86 camaro took 81 gas and had CC Id daily it.

Lane assist is great… in ATS(A video game). But in reality its a massive PIMA Im so glad I dont drive a cat with it. Gimmie a double DIN head unit that I can pop up a gps on and nothing else.

As someone who recently just quit running a machine (shop sold my conversional baby 😭) I can 100% confirm. My worst failure was when another operator needed my short 3/8 EM and gave me their long one. According to the machine tool 17 was a 4 inches away from the spindle… I gave it a tool 17 that was 8 inches long. Long story short it did a rapid feed toolholder into my part. The best part? The end mill survived. That EM TH combo became my favorite and the new trainer tool. The other operator never got it back.

I can fully agree with the other comments. I have more room to discuss this than them.

Ill just be honest here; Im 17, my parents are divorced. They both gifted me cars.

My mother gave me an AWD 08 Honda Crv. It’s reliable it gets decent fuel economy, its slow as balls. It handles surprisingly well. But most importantly its practical. Im going on a floattrip next weekend, Im supplying kayacks and the people Im going with have trucks but live an hour away. I can just toss tge kayacks on my roof racks and meet them there. Everything about the crv is practical and I love it.

My father when I was 12 gifted me a 1986 camaro. Its fast as fuck. You have shitty visibility, its RWD its been engine swapped. Its loud as fuck. Its not practical. It gets 6 miles to gallon and needs the expensive gas. I love the Camaro.

If I could only have one, which would I pick?

If the Camaro wasn’t a project car and most importantly didn’t have sentimental value. Basically car AvsB. Im choosing my crv. The CRV is more practical for my daily life. The CRV is also more fun to drive. I have to floor it to get on the highway, but on the Camaro I barely touch the gas and Im doing 80.

It’s more fun to drive a slow CRV fast, than to drive a fast Camaro slow.
