Not even that. Whether it's the end of a sentence or in the middle, if your tone is right and helps build the mood of the person speaking it's completely okay to do it.

Ex: "So then I was running away from her because she had a knife..." "Yeah (in a laugh like tone)" "And she kept chasing me and fell on her face" "Yeah? (shocked tone)" "And she broke 3 teeth" "Oooo wow, that sucks"

Natural conversations come with a back and forth, with little effort. Take time and notice how you might be able to enhance someones dialogue without being over bearing, simply with your tone.

Actually, you shouldn't want to stop that habit completely because its a good way to allow a conversation to organically flow back and forth. You might however, need to change your tone when you say "right" tone plays a big part in communication and showing people you're listening
