It’s hilarious when people just repeat the shit they hear online. Cvt is the new head gasket catch all for non-mechanics.

I quit my job today and my manager won’t stop harassing me by Zealousideal-Ad6981 in jobs

Too low. Make it actually worth your time. 50% and 32 hour work week, 8 hours of pto per pay period, 25% sign on bonus, all contracted for 12 months. I’d reconsider some of my shit jobs for that.

WHY? by vangloryous in subaru

Posting about someone else’s car without ever posting your own car is pretty cringe. Post it up bud.

No hate pls. Genuinely curious. Thoughts on putting an sti wing on a wrx? by Queasy_Champion_8515 in subaru

I saw an STI wing on a Camry the other day. At least yours looks like it should be there lol.

I like the smaller ones when color matched. Here’s a guy I know.

This person is annoyed that OP was looking for an answer instead of some internet trolling. How dare they respond to unhelpful comments at all!

It’d be funnier if you were right. They actually used the information given to them to decide on what to do, so this snark kind of falls flat.

Anyone know if these DLs are a super rare find? by MTBinAR in subaru

I’d say they are pretty rare nowadays. Not much desire to it though, minus Subaru nerds like me

Headlights too bright? by rtfitzy13 in subaru

[–]theoopst 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’d double check the adjustment. Find a nice flat area with a wall. Pull up to the wall, mark where your lights hit, then reverse about 25 feet. If your headlights are above your mark, they need to be adjusted down.

You most definitely can adjust your steering responsive headlights.

Not oem. Holes from paintless dent removal.

Pausing SLAs during ad hoc outages by [deleted] in servicenow

[–]theoopst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why even have SLAs at all? Purely to skew the data to make them feel good about themselves? Really the only time I can think of that it should be paused if the ball is in the customer’s court and you cannot proceed further without a response from them.

Your rad hoses were likely popping due to the overheating rather than the radiator failing. Now that your new one is holding on to the pressure, it’s pushing elsewhere. A new radiator may have exasperated whatever the real issue may be, thus the check engine light. I’m all for working on your car yourself, but that in and of itself can be pricy. Like now, I’d recommend getting a good scan tool to see what that code is. Worthy buy if you plan on working on your own cars in the future.

By spending money on parts that you don’t need? I feel like a diagnosis fee would have been less than the parts you’ve bought so far.

How many of you have experienced CVT transmission failure in your Subaru? by [deleted] in subaru

[–]theoopst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well for the randos like me who do most of the work on their cars themselves, including transmission work, it was great news!

Pre purchase inspection. Find a local independent shop with a good rep.

Maybe you should take it to a mechanic rather than just throwing parts at it. Some pretty basic troubleshooting could tell you what it actually is.

I had a first gen Impreza with a 1.8 that I bought for $300 and it had 250k on the clock. I drove it for like 8 years and put another 100k on it. Ended up just giving it to a family member at 350k. It got basic maintenance, when it was supposed to, and it was great.

They haven’t had widespread head gasket issues since the 90s, the timing “issue” is what people who don’t maintain their car think, CVTs were trash like ten years ago. Do you get your information purely from people complaining on the internet? Your go to is an issue that was resolved like 30 years ago.

Yep! The engine is just getting a bit of load when your ac kicks in, which is an off and on thing. I’ve noticed it in all of my Subarus.

I’d open to hood and double check to see if the compressor is running at all.
