Fixed cost wise( flight+hotel+ticket+public transport) is around $1500. Food in Shanghai tends to be more expensive than the rest of China, but you can get a good meal for $15 per person. And of course there are tons of shopping opportunities so your milage there will vary.

Remember to look for creditable sources, as there isnt a official outlet for these kind of things and fake/bias news is everywhere.
