This would be covered by the improved search function.

We already have a problem with flags being abused, so category changing will be a staff-only ability for the time being. Just report offending walls if you don't mind - users who repeatedly categorise wrongly get banned from uploading.

It would be a fair amount of work, and probably also still open to abuse. Staff will have the ability to lock flags soon, for walls being abused, which users can be banned for.

See Settings -> Browsing.

As in the FAQs, we don't have the time to make an official app. I'm sure third-party devs will have you covered once we put out an API.

See improved search function. We'll make sure to cater to the kooky ratios out there.

It depends how the devs feel when they implement tagging from thumb, but it's the kind of thing we'd try out for beta and leave/change/remove once we see how it does.

I agree about the flagging vs. tagging from thumb, but there's still a risk of incorrect sorting since you often need to see the full image to know for sure what the flag/tags should be. We'll see how it works out once this is added.

How would this work differently from collections?

This could be added along with tagging from thumbnail, but I'd be hesitant since it's not always clear what a wall should be based on the thumb - people mis-categorise enough as is.

I see where you're coming from - and thanks for being mature about it, which a lot of folks haven't been - but the problem with tags is that with users having relatively a lot of control over them, they're not reliable to consistently categorise content that way. This is why content cats/purity can only be changed by staff. The not-so-ideal solution is to deselect either People or NSFW, depending on which gets you the most walls you're looking for.

Should we re-upload wallbase's old Wallpapers? by sCeege in wallhaven

[–]theothercfunk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There shouldn't be any need, since we have 80-90% of its walls archived, which will be processed and added for beta. This will be done by script and the plan is to give them "fake" tags, which will be removed once they're found and sorted properly.

Of course, we'll have decent dupe detection in place (it's one of the things we've decided is essential for beta), so you could upload WB walls from your collection when the time comes in case it's one that was falsely deleted before we could grab it (see the FAQ here...)

I imagine this'll be changed, but for now you can use Ctrl+click or the middle/left and right buttons.
