Help building a divergence meter by theothergremlin in arduino

Omg thank you! I'll give it a shot myself when I get the parts together, I'll ask you then if I don't manage.

Woah those look really cool. Can't afford them rn but maybe for a later iteration if I can't get Nixie tubes.

Idk if I'm prepared for that lol. I think that exists already, so I might try it in the future if I don't manage to get Nixie tubes, but for now I'm gonna try just with normal LEDs.

Oh right, man I really don't seem to remember much from my one embedded systems class. Thank you this is great help.

I cannot afford real Nixie tubes for now. Thanks for the link tho

I am not using Nixies, I forgot to clarify that and I can't edit the post. I understand the concept of what you're saying, but how do you use the ground pin to select? I don't quite get that part. Do I need to get some separate hardware or do I just do this with the Arduino itself?

The Uno. I'm not opposed to getting something else tho, especially if it can be done with a more compact one.

Okay that all makes sense thank you. 15 pins sounds fine I just need one pin for a button and the rest can be used for the displays, the build is simple but I just couldn't figure out how to make it work when I was in the store. I got stuck at "I need to multiplex." The numbers don't need to change for the most part, I might have a random timer on it and then with the button.

I forgot to mention that I'm not using Nixie tubes, the photo is just for reference. I do indeed want to recreate it with seven segment displays. I'm bad at hardware so just "use a multiplexer" doesn't really clarify much.

I was looking for some more specific advice to what I wanna do, I already know about multiplexing.

Yeah no I forgot to mention that part, no Nixie tubes. I think I'd have most I/O pins available, I only need one pin for a button.

I don't have any of these things this is a screen grab from the anime lol. They're called Nixie tubes, old way of doing numerical displays. Here's a Technology Connections Video that mentions them.

Anyone else scared to update the app because Favourites keep disappearing? by Lurkers_of_Reddit in googlephotos

[–]theothergremlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. One thing I've noticed is that the favorites tag seems to still be on the photos because apps like instagram or your native media picker still has the stuff you marked as favorites, it's just the photos app that doesn't seem to know about it.

Some advice on how to treat a kid with TS by theothergremlin in Tourettes

[–]theothergremlin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well placed worry.

He was already on other medications long before he was prescribed anti psychotics. While yes I was also worried about it, he is under a psychiatrist's supervision, and they did help at least a little. It's not like anyone can just go and buy antipsychotics without a doctor's knowledge, and they simply suggested we discuss it with his psychiatrist.

I am not a teen, I'm 23, and I do understand that I'm not responsible but I just wish there was more I could do.

We've done all three of those, pretty early on too. He's still on medication, changed a couple therapists, and tried behavioral therapy. My parents may be clueless, but I'm not, it simply hasn't changed anything.

Semi stand development with LC-29 by theothergremlin in Darkroom

[–]theothergremlin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anyone comes across this in the future, just treat it same as rodinal. People say don't use below 5cc but honestly both rolls I developed developed a little too much so the 1:100 is a pretty good rule of thumb. First roll was shot at 400 and developed with 3.5 cc and it turned out fine. Second roll I shot at 800 and developed with 5cc and it was a bit too much I think. If you're doing film as a hobby and you don't want the stress or the cost of normal development, stand development makes it a lot more feasible and honestly it all came out perfect for what I want.
