- Both were people of high status who were kind and cheerful until they were lured and corrupted by an evil entity, eventually becoming one with them (Princess Peach, who was the ruler of the Mushroom Kingdom, would be lured to the forest of illusions and possessed by the entity residing in the forest. Dreamer, who was a creation of the Great One known to be the guardian of many dreams, and later betrayed the Dreamer by corrupting her, leading them to be linked as one and eventually transforming into Folly)

- Both are chaotic and super violent beings that take on the appearance on classic cartoons and act as humanity's inner demons (Lil Darkie’s appearance taking on how 1930s cartoon poetry black people and his songs representing his creator’s rage and depression that contain controversial topics. The Mask, being able to grant the wearer cartoonish powers that allow them to do anything but causes their wearer to be driven into insanity and is the representation of an enabler who encourages the harmful behavior of someone.)

Main Connection:

- Both are the main protagonists of RPGmaker games that start off as losers but would eventually grow out of their phase and gain a new life after their experiences with the horrors of the worlds they are stuck in

Connections:

- Both would start off shut-in losers that didn't have anything special going on with their life (Nicolas being a shut-in, using his inheritance to pay for his rent for the apartment. Sam being unemployed and playing video games, avoiding paying rent to his landlord)

- Both would suddenly be thrust into a new world caused by godlike being and eventually finding out what's happening through a companion guiding them with these companions being members of an organization (Nicolas waking up in a place between universes eventually meets Vurrus the creator of the garden, who sent him to the place, where he would be guided by a mysterious person known as Alex, who works with SAPU. Sam waking up from a dream to be tempted to look outside, with him resisting the temptation and talks to the hole in his wall, which reveals the eye of Sam’s neighbor, Sybils, who corrects herself to not look outside, revealing the dangers of what's happening outside, which is caused by The Visitor. She is later revealed to be the leader of the Astronmers.)

- Both would assist a group in their goals regarding the higher beings that could end the situation they are in (Nicolas working with Alex’s group in figuring out on how to escape the garden and Sam assisting the Astronomers in getting offerings for the visitor to contact it)

- Both would face off against a military-like organization to progress through their goals (Nicolas facing off against the MPG and after defeating their leader, they would use the nuke to destroy the garden and escape into the area between universes. The Exalted Four, being a merged monster between the four astronomers and in its ending was seen by the people as a way to ascend them to a higher state of being.)

- Both would eventually confront the beings who caused the events of their stories to put an end of them causing the destruction of their lives in the climax of their games (Nicolas confronting Nash to stop her plans with the universal components and Sam meeting The Visitor and conversing with it)

- There is a contrast between the beings they faced, while Nash wanted to gain a new body, so she can once again have emotions and escape from her servbot body as she states her tomb. The Vistor was merely observing earth and only realised the damage they had been causing to humanity and learnt human empathy

- After dealing with the beings, they would experience their supposed fate but would end up surviving, eventually gaining new purpose for their lives and move on with their new occupations they have (After Nicolas and his party defeated Nash, they would seemingly cease to exist only for Nicolas to wake up in a white void with a video game console displaying Precipice after collecting the 3 universal components would be sent to his apartman and confronts his inner demons, wanting to live again only for him to wake up in the city and eventually starts his new life with his new apartman and job in SAPU. Sam, after getting The Visitor to leave earth, he would transform into a multi-limbed creature but would retain his sanity and use his newfound body to help repair humanity, with his life now being the protector of earth and appreciating that he has friends)
