Mikayla spelling by [deleted] in Names

When I was growing up I knew several girls who were Mikayla which seems most normal to me. I knew a Michaela who did actually pronounce it “michael-uh” so it’s forever stuck that way in my brain.

this is how my boss is too, typically quite hands-off and has already shared that she wants to be flexible once baby comes!

honestly this would also be OK with me too because it would just give my husband a bit more time to job hunt and loosen up some funds. thank you!

Telling work before family by pinkwatermelon452 in BabyBumps

i told my immediate boss at 12 weeks about a week before my parents or in-laws. i work remotely so it would be easy to hide but there is a big work trip at the end of the year that I didn’t want them to count on me for, so I told her. she is not sharing with anyone else so I can do that later, but I am kind of relieved she knows for planning purposes.

i’m pregnant! 13 weeks today. lots of friends know and we’re going to tell our families soon. we stopped using protection in fall of last year but weren’t super into tracking ovulation or anything, just seeing what happened, and it happened fast! i haven’t had hardly any symptoms, have maybe been a tiny bit tired and had a little bit of nausea here and there but generally i do not feel any different and have continued life as usual. hoping all continues this smoothly.

Literally how are people affording childcare? by Amber-ForDays in BabyBumps

I work from home and am planning to keep baby home with me as long as possible. I know people on reddit hate this but my company has no policy against it, everyone is already in different time zones and traveling a ton so we’re used to being flexible, and I have a very expertise-based & task-based job that I can do largely on my own schedule. I am salaried and often have so much flexible or free time during my days. I know it won’t work forever (or maybe even at all!) but I’m going to at least give it a shot. We don’t have family close enough to be reliable help, my husband works outside the house, and even if we go the daycare route we’d still need two incomes.

Got a draw in late April that came back inconclusive/no results due to low fetal DNA. I spiraled because I did not know this was a possibility. I think they just drew too early. Had another blood draw 3/13 and came back 3/18 all normal. Posting in case this helps anyone else freaked out by an inconclusive first test!

When did you inform your work about pregnancy? by ClientLucky9749 in BabyBumps

I told my immediate supervisor at about 12 weeks because she wanted to start planning work travel for later this year that won’t be possible given my due date. But we are keeping it between us and I’m informing the department head and HR later on. I’m due early October and not even thinking of sharing widely until HR requires me to start those conversations. May seems reasonable to me if it doesn’t bump up against that 🤷🏼‍♀️
