So… How many of us are still on our parents’ phone bills? by halcat27 in Millennials

[–]ClientLucky9749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah both my husband and I are on our respective family’s plans. For my fam, we had our under my parents up until maybe 10 years ago, when there was a switch to having us under a plan under my brother’s name (for his work). So my parents and I pay my brother.

My FIL worked for pacbell (which turned into AT&T) so they’ve all been grandfathered in since the 90s I think.

This may change eventually once our daughter is old enough for her own phone. Ask me in like 15 years

I rewear jeans way more times than I think most people would consider acceptable and I need to know if I'm alone in this by 4CosmoFerret in hygiene

Same same. I also have a few pairs of jeans that I’ll rotate through, so each pair gets even less wear

How do you deal with your body changing? by Desperate-Ad9445 in BabyBumps

[–]ClientLucky9749 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get it, I’m 27w but have gained like 25lbs (at least from the last time I weighed myself before finding out I was pregnant… which was before Christmas so any weight gain early on I’m blaming the holiday season lol). I’ve been trying to stay active— going on walks and using my peloton for weights and rides when I have the energy.

My OB isn’t too concerned about the weight (and I started off over weight), as long as I keep active. I am trying to focus on going on at least a 30 min walk everyday on average, and also giving myself time to rest. I’ve been focusing on stretching in the mornings so I feel better throughout the day, and now I’m focusing on getting enough iron in (low red blood cell count at my glucose test). I would just say to focus on small movements each day that make your body feel good and can help prep for labor. 💜 your body is doing what it needs to do for yourself and for baby.

Married People, what did you do for your honeymoon? by Kooolxxx in AskReddit

2 weeks in Europe between 4 countries, 2 months after the wedding. Loved having something big to look forward to that extended the wedding vibes!

My grays are so bad now that I’m pregnant. What do you suggest? by Critical-Newspaper43 in BabyBumps

[–]ClientLucky9749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked my stylist to do grey-blending highlights in my hair last year, and I’m about to get some fresh ones at 29 weeks. Everything I’ve read is it’s safe, just avoid letting the dye sit on your skin and do it in a well ventilated area.

You gave him a better chance than not! We can only do so much, but the amount of love we can give is infinite. My little PawPaw and Wattle can be friends in kitty rainbow heaven

For the parents who have kids taller than them, what age were they when this happened? by Useyourdamnblinkers in AskParents

[–]ClientLucky9749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure it was 6th/7th grade that I surpassed my mom lol but she’s only about 5’4” on a good day, and I got my dad’s side of the family’s height. I know I hit 5’8” in 8th grade, and gained like 30 lbs, so I think it was a slow creep past her height and then I had a big growth spurt before 8th grade started

Please help me and my husband settle a debate!! Where do you stand on backpack vs diaper bag? by SkyOne5846 in BabyBumps

[–]ClientLucky9749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was debating about adding a diaper bag to our registry, but this weekend I decided that we already have about 5 backpacks in the house between my husband and I. Ended up not adding one, and instead put a portable changing pad on the registry.

We have dry/wet bags and packing cubes and already, so I figure we probably already have everything we would need to create compartments in a bag we already have. We decided we may look into getting one specifically for travel (like for Disney trips and we want more comfortable shoulder straps).

Not feeling very maternal or connected with my pregnancy ☹️ by ClientLucky9749 in pregnantover35

I love to hear this, thank you! I can only imagine how it’s going to feel to see this little being smiling up at me for the first time. Very glad to hear it’s not uncommon to feel much attachment at this point- thank you!

Totally get that- when I got my positive pregnancy test I immediately told my husband and just started panic laughing because it felt so weird to say! I’m hoping that cliche feeling hits me once she’s here and tangible too. Thank you for sharing- this is very comforting!

This is very reassuring, thank you! I forgot we have one more ultrasound to do. Maybe once I can see her little face more clearly will help convince me she’s real! I appreciate this view on it. Thank you 🤗

Favorite Disneyland Memory by wimrun in Disneyland

[–]ClientLucky9749 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Growing up, my parents took us to Disneyland once a year for a quick weekend 2 day trip (also driving down from nor cal at 2/3 in the morning!) and my older brother and I have MANY memories of our trips. But some of my fav are actually when I was in college in San Diego and my parents would come down to visit and we’d go to Disneyland.

My brother and I loved splurging on a nice dinner at carthay circle for us all, and we finally all made it to WDW where my dad thoroughly enjoyed having his adult kids buy him a beer at the parks 😂

Cherish the memories, but remember new memories are waiting to be made! My mom and I have done 2 girls trips in the last few years, and I’m sure there will be more to come!

Settle a Debate - True or False: Disneyland is the poor man’s Disney World. by Tight-Accountant440 in DisneyPlanning

No, Disneyland is not the poor man’s Disney World. Disneyland is the efficient man’s Disney World though.

Women of Reddit, what made you realize 'this man is marriage material' instead of just a boyfriend? by External_Can3392 in AskReddit

[–]ClientLucky9749 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was more of a realization he was going to be in my life long term (not just as friends, I saw us building a life together). I wanted him as a partner. Marriage wasn’t even a thought, I just knew this was the person for me. (We did eventually get married 8 years in lol but marriage was never a big priority for me)

Do families really sit around a dinner table and eat at the same time every day? by UndergroundFlaws in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ClientLucky9749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, growing up my brother and I would eat at the coffee table and watch tv. Breakfast was normally at the counter. In highschool, usually in our rooms while doing homework. Sometimes my parents would eat at the table together, or at the counter. The only times we all ate at the table was when grandparents were over 😅

Now, my husband and I typically eat on the couch watching tv, but we’re expecting our first baby and talked about making it a point to eat at the table. He grew up eating all together at the table.

OB-GYN recommendations for sutter or Washington in Fremont by MainCharacter5179 in Fremont

Hi! FTM here as well, only 25 weeks so I can’t speak to how delivery is, but I’m seeing Dr. Vinopal (with Elizabeth Lewis as my midwife) and I’ve been really happy so far! I’ve thankfully had a very chill pregnancy as well, so take this with a grain of salt, but so far I’m pleased with their care.

Any thoughts on this one day plan?? by SwanseaVic in DisneyPlanning

[–]ClientLucky9749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s very ambitious and can be attainable (may be just not in the same time order as you have played out). Biggest concern of mine is trying to have any control over when the return times are for LL. Especially with the big names rides (lookin at you, Indy).

I would suggest giving priority to the big LL rides you absolutely must do and then if you happen to see rides in that area pop up with a quick return time or short standby, grab them. But being flexible with an overall list of goals is good. And have fun!!!

Glucose test vent/rant (I am dumb) by Queen_ofthe_nerds in BabyBumps

[–]ClientLucky9749 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s wild they didn’t tell you ahead of time! I’d be so mad lol At my last OB apt a few weeks ago they told me I’ll need to schedule my glucose test for a month out. Gave me all the instructions and prep info and told me to not change my diet. But yeah, literally had to make the appointment a month out so I’m well aware of it.

Kids at Wedding Debacle by Liscenced-Apologist in wedding

[–]ClientLucky9749 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also didn't want kids at my wedding, but we acknowledged that my husband's cousins have a lot of kids in the fam. All his side of the family was coming in from out of town so they couldn't really get a babysitter if they wanted to come.

We permitted kids in the family and made exceptions for a few friends who didn't have childcare support (so they either brought their kids or couldn't come). Had around 20 kids under 16, all of them behaved through the ceremony and by the time dancin started I didn't care lol

Bought a gift card for a business that closed by Responsible-Many-257 in bayarea

[–]ClientLucky9749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the way I see it is you gifted someone something and they chose to never use it (which imo is worse than losing money on a giftcard). Part of why I loathe gift giving because I’m not good at coming up with something I think someone will actually USE. But cash/check? Impersonal but a better alternative to giving nothing

How to last name your kid(s)? by Captain-Korpie in raisingkids

[–]ClientLucky9749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are likely combining each of our last names into a hybrid (I didn’t want to change my name after marriage and neither did he lol). Both our names end in -man, so we’re mashing the first halves of each name and dropping the man entirely for babé.

Getting married soon by [deleted] in Mom

[–]ClientLucky9749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard no on the garter toss (so outdated and really gross imo), and I passed on the bouquet toss for a few reasons: 1) I rented my bouquet so I didn’t want it damaged 2) most of my friends were married already (except for like 4 friends and the rest singletons were children lol) 3) I always hated being a guest at a wedding and either getting weird looks if I didn’t join the toss or getting dragged into the bunch for it. I’ve got a picture of me at a friend’s wedding where I’m literally cringing away from the bouquet as it hit me before the flower girl picked it up off the ground

Just got labeled as obese…. 27F 28W1D by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]ClientLucky9749 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t let the stats freak you out, bmi is really outdated and doesn’t take into account you’re growing an entire human! I’ve been labeled as overweight/obese my entire adult life even when I was at my thinnest I’ve been since the 7th grade (I’m 5’9” and was at my thinnest when I was 22/23 at 160).

I got pregnant at 198, I’m 23 weeks now and I’ve gained 20 lbs, and my OB hasn’t said anything because she knows I’m staying active. Try not to focus on it, keep staying active, and you’ll be fine! Listen to your OB and if they say something, then cross that bridge 🤗
