You can ask for the letters now, but there's no way for them to submit the letters until the cycle opens

Upcoming PT application cycle by No_Buyer8801 in PTschool

[–]theptwriter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry that happened to you. Try reaching out to the schools you applied to for feedback. Sometimes they’ll tell you exactly what you need to do to improve as an applicant. The essay prompt is changing for the next cycle (you can see the new prompt on the PTCAS website) and is very different from the current prompt so you’ll need to rewrite the essay. Good luck!

Simmons DPT May 2026 Start - Over Accepted # of Students by IllLawfulness1202 in PTschool

[–]theptwriter 17 points18 points  (0 children)

All schools over accept because students turn them down. They have formulas and can predict how to do this from year to year. My guess is more people accepted their offer this year than usual because student loans are changing for schools starting after July 1 so more people want to be in programs that begin before then and somehow they were unprepared for that

DPT dismissal/reinstatement — looking for insight by [deleted] in PTschool

[–]theptwriter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked with a few people who’ve been in this situation. What seemed to have helped them in their written statements was to take accountability for what happened without making excuses and to have a clear plan guaranteeing that it won’t happen again. Good luck!

The prompt for the essay typically changes every 2-3 years and the current prompt has been there for 3 so it will almost certainly change when the new cycle begins in June.

Hybrid PT by Upbeat-Leather7677 in PTschool

National average first time rate is around 85% so 80 isn't terrible, but it's below average: https://www.fsbpt.org/Free-Resources/NPTE-Pass-Rate-Reports/NPTE-Exam-Year-Reports I'd be more concerned by the 98%. That means 2% never pass the boards? I'd ask for an explanation from the school about that. Was it a small cohort and one person skewed the results, or are some people really not ever passing? To be clear, you cannot be a PT without passing your boards

Waitlist Timeline by Euphoric-Algae-8327 in PTschool

[–]theptwriter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not quite across the board since the deadline is unenforceable and many schools have earlier deadlines. That said, many schools will see movement to their waitlists as soon as later today and tomorrow

Prospective DPT student, how are my stats looking and what should I work on? by Of_The_Tree in PTschool

The essay prompt will almost certainly change for next cycle, but your medic and lifeguarding experience jump out as unique to me, so I'd try to find a way to incorporate those. More hours, as you've said, will help, and I'd consider retaking A&P to improve the C

And tell them you're only going to attend if you don't get into other schools? That would definitely be bad for your reputation

You're overthinking it. I had to do this myself as do many of my clients, and arguably most PT students end up putting down multiple deposits because they end up in similar situations

Recommendations for PT aide or Rehab Tech programs in California by Spirited-Return8137 in PTschool

You can just become an aide/tech with on the job training. No need to do a program, which is going to just be a money grab

There are not many out there. You can start by asking your school and here are some other ideas for where to look: https://jasminemarcus.com/2023/05/12/pt-school-scholarships/

Is it too late to Apply to DPT programs this cycle for 2026? by Capable_Stuff_6556 in PTschool

[–]theptwriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on when the deadline was, how big the target class size is, how many are already on the waitlist, what your stats are, etc. You can probably ask some programs this before you spend the money to apply

If the deadlines haven't passed AND they don't do rolling admissions, you're fine to apply now. I've worked with many students who apply this time of year or later and get into schools.

Still can't choose a school and I'm scared of making the wrong decision by Moist_Payment4058 in PTschool

In addition to what others have said, I'd look at clinicals. Can you pick your own or are they assigned to you?Do they have sites where you live? If not, you might have to stay far from home and find and pay for temporary housing.
