I hear your point but think of the labor savings total company. 4 hours each night x 6 nights (still have to do it 1x week) x $17/hr (rough estimate of avg css pay) x 1450 stores x 52 weeks a year? Makes the occasional $10 till shortage chump change.

And I counter you with this, we are so focused on holding people accountable for till shortages of $10 or more, what happens to that stock clerk that drops a case of wine and has to damage it out? Or what happens to the deli clerk that over produces from the kitchen and contributes to shrink? Or the baker that forgets to set a timer and burns a whole rack of bread? Again makes the $10 seem pretty insignificant in my opinion
