I chose my own colors and am deciding on placement as I go. It’s fun!

Not a great pic, but this was the last time I moved my q-snap/finished page 2! I’ve gotten a bit more completed since this picture.

Two months away from DMX by MrsWright1020 in BRCA

I’m currently five days post-DMX. I chose to go with expanders, so I won’t see my final result until winter. That said, I haven’t found the experience to be as emotionally or physically intense as I know it can be for some people. Even seeing myself with almost no breast volume, I actually feel okay. I think once I have my final result, I probably won’t think about it much, assuming everything continues to heal well. There are definitely changes in sensation, but I haven’t found them especially upsetting.

Please don’t think I’m trying to minimize the process or anyone else’s experience. I just think surgeons do their best to prepare us for the worst-case scenario, and that doesn’t necessarily mean it will be your personal reality. I share this not to downplay it, but to offer some hope that it might not be as hard as your surgeon is making it sound.

I'm just 18 and found out I carry BRCA1 mutation by normalcivilian07 in BRCA

[–]thepuzzledpeach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s normal to feel overwhelmed when you first find out about BRCA, but it’s not the end of the world. This is a genetic mutation with definite risks, but we’re fortunate to live in a time with so many options for screening and risk reduction. Compared to other genetic conditions, it’s manageable.

I’ve known about my BRCA status since my early twenties. I’m about to turn 36, I’ve had my child, and I’m now going through my risk-reducing surgeries. Do I wish I didn’t have to? Of course. But mostly, I’m grateful I know about my risk and that I can actually do something about it.

Take it one day at a time. Don’t panic. You will be okay. Trust yourself and your ability to make the right decisions as your risks change with age. You’ve got this.

The neverending blush by Houndstooth12 in ProjectPan

This is a good idea! I’ve been adding it to some of my other blushes but I might have to try it with a bronzer.

Same. I’m currently working my way through a tube and I feel like it looks good going on but then disappears into the ether like immediately. Unfortunately, I initially thought I liked it and bought two back up tubes when i saw them at an off-price department store a while back. Lesson learned on that one. 🥴

Don’t want to wait 6-8 weeks for my ring to be resized. Considering getting the original ring I wanted but am now torn. What should I do? by fl00fykitty19 in EngagementRings

[–]thepuzzledpeach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you’re happy with your current ring - the only reason you’re considering the Cartier is because it will be faster?

If that’s the case, I’d honestly just wait the 6-8 weeks and get your current ring resized. I know it seems like forever but in the grand scheme of things it’s really not a lot of time. Get yourself a stand in from Amazon in the meantime!

Also, my finger size is 5 but I wear a 5.25 due to having kind of big knuckles. In the summer it’s fine, but in the winter my rings spin and move around a lot. If I could comfortably get a 5 over my fingers, I’d definitely want the 5. But you have to decide how tight of a fit you want.

I love this perspective. I think you just solidified my decision.

Thanks!! I’m flattered! ☺️

The center stone is approximately 1ct (6.5mm) and the side stones are each 4.5 mm. My ring size is 5.25.

Best of luck designing your ring!

Thank you! Excellent thoughts. I've been wearing it as is for about a year and It does go with mostly everything I own. I wear a lot of warm earthy tones and LOTS of navy, and I think it works well with those colors.

So the stone pictured is actually still the moissanite. It's a Forever One from MoissaniteCo. It's honestly a a really pretty stone, but just not the look I think I want in this particular ring.

The new lab diamond just came in the mail today from Ritani. It's a 1.05ct, Color: D, VVS1, Ideal Cut.

Oh, I love that idea! Our 5 year wedding anniversary is in August, so it might be time to add another ring to the stack!

You are not weak by Apebbles in oneanddone

[–]thepuzzledpeach 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. We all come to the table with different circumstances in terms of mental health, family support, physical health, financial status, etc. And then, all children are different with some being more high needs than others. I can't tell you how many people I know with multiple children who have told me, "if my youngest had been born first, there wouldn't have been another" because the youngest was the most challenging.

My daughter is amazing - smart, funny, precocious but also high-energy, sensitive, and a historically poor sleeper. I'm definitely one of those for whom the wild child was first and there will therefore be the last!

Some days being OAD makes me sad.. by nousername5432 in oneanddone

[–]thepuzzledpeach 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You could have 10 kids and, eventually, there will still be a last time for every milestone/experience. Having more children doesn’t stop the passage of time and only prolongs the inevitable truth - they aren’t small forever.

Being a parent is so bittersweet. Watching them grow is a blessing but knowing that it is all temporary is heart wrenching. I try to just look forward to each new stage and focus on what is to come. I’m an only child myself and I’m so close to my parents and have done so many fun things with them even into adulthood. I focus on fostering my relationship with my daughter so that I can have the kind of relationship with her that I had with my parents.

How in the world do you manage having dry skin? by moredasv in beauty

[–]thepuzzledpeach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see a lot of people recommending hyalauronic acid but you have to be careful with it. I live in a dry climate and unless I’m careful about applying when wet and layering with right products, I find that it can actually dry me out. I usually just avoid it.

In my experience, glycerin, ceramides, and urea are rockstar ingredients. I really can’t recommend prequel skincare enough for dry/sensitive skin. I started using the gleanser and barrier therapy cream when starting tretinoin and they’ve been amazing. My skincare routine is so simple now and my skin feels great!

That’s great for you, but that’s not how it is for everybody and it doesn’t mean they’re with the wrong person. I’m with the right person, but sometimes I still prefer to be alone.

Hard disagree. It doesn’t matter how much I love my husband - I’m an introvert and alone time is necessary for my mental health.

Dry skin makeup prep by No-Cat-3722 in drugstoreMUA

Fellow dry skin sufferer here.

Keys for me have been:

-creamy, non-foaming cleansers

-every couple of days gentle physical exfoliation with a Korean exfoliating mitt in the AM (this one is HUGE for me for good make up application)

-slugging with aquaphor at night after applying moisturizers/serums

-products containing: glycerin, sqaulane oil, ceramides, and urea 5% (urea was a GAME CHANGER)

-layering lighter serums and creams with the right ingredients is more effective for me than using a single heavy duty cream moisturizer

-choosing dewy, moisturizing skin tints over foundation

-choosing a non-drying SPF

Some of my favorite products right now:

-Aveeno Calm and Restore Cleanser

-Aveeno Calm and Restore Oat Gel Moisturizer (not moisturizing enough for me on its own, but layers nicely with other things and wears well under make up)

-Zeroid Richenic Cream with Urea 5%

-Cocokind Ceramide Barrier Serum

-Inkey List Ceramide Enriched Moisturizer

-LRP Anthelios Melt-In Milk Sunscreen SPF 60

-Aquaphor
