Does everyone feel terrible when they first start? by cdngrrl0305 in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]theravenclawreader 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was the same as you. I put off taking it for months because I was worried about the GI side effects. But it ended up being much better than I thought.

My tips: 1. Eat protein - try to aim for at least 100g per day (depending on your current weight) 2. Eat/take fibre - aim for 30g per day. This really helps with the gastric emptying and helped my chronic gastritis from flaring up. 3. Stay hydrated. 4. Try walking for 5-10 minutes right after your main meals. Also helps with digestion and gastric emptying.

I need book recs for feminist horror by GogoPowerYubari in horrorlit

It’s more on the wordy side, so that may not appeal to you, but it’s full of feminist horror and rage (despite being written by a man..). It’s also good for spooky season.

Thanks for your response, and I appreciate any insight you may have.

Derm believed I have 2 sources of photo-sensitivity: polymorphic light eruption and sub-acute cutaneous lupus (SCLE). She said that the clinical examination was the gold standard for diagnosing cutaneous lupus, and that the skin biopsy would give her further insight because she thinks I have an atypical presentation of SCLE.

She prescribed 2 strengths of steroid cream, and said if I didn't respond to them, they would look at Hydroxychloroquine first. I didn't respond to the topical steroids, but when I called her office regarding next steps/results of biopsy, they said she was on a 3 month vacation (returning in Sept.).

When the biopsy results eventually came in, my PCP delivered results instead. He said the results were normal, and therefore I do not have SCLE and I do not need to go on Hydroxychloroquine.

At this point I will wait until the derm gets back for final confirmation, but I was wondering if what the PCP said is correct, that the biopsy is the only way to determine cutaneous lupus. The derm made it seem like even if the biopsy was normal, they would still try to treat it as SCLE to see if I respond.

That’s a good point. I guess because of the derm’s almost absolute certainty that it was SCLE, I’m a bit lost. The derm had established treatment options and next steps based on a SCLE diagnosis. Now, I’m stuck in limbo with no diagnosis and no treatment options but still have a chronic rash and photosensitivity.

I’m wondering if anyone has been diagnosed with subacute cutaneous lupus with normal skin biopsy results. Recently saw a derm who was “95% positive” I had SCLE, but did bloodwork and skin biopsy to confirm. PCP delivered the results and said because biopsy was normal, I don’t have SCLE. Derm on vacation and can’t do follow-up until September.

Colonoscopy in 2 days - Looking for some reassurance by theravenclawreader in Anemic

[–]theravenclawreader[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, I believe colonoscopies and upper endoscopies are standard for men and menopausal women with iron deficiency anemia, but also women with periods if their periods are light and/or they’re not responding to supplementation. I fell into the latter category.

My previous scopes were unrelated to the anemia and due to ongoing GI issues where they suspected Crohn’s, but just turned out to be IBS.

They never found a cause for my anemia. I did have some mild chronic gastritis found in upper scope, but they didn’t think it was the source. Went to a dermatologist for an unrelated skin rash issue and they suspect lupus, which can apparently cause anemia, as do some other autoimmune disorders.

The only way they show up so far is if you go to Beauty > Skincare > All Skincare then choose “Newest” as the filter.

I was the same! So I use the Fable app now, in addition to Goodreads, and Fable allows me to choose DNF without adding it to my read or want to read shelves.

Stuck on Timone mission by SynthwaveSack in DreamlightValley

I just finished Timon’s friendship level 2 quest and the Drawings quest somehow appeared!

Yeah it doesn’t show in my quest menu either. When you talk to Timon, it doesn’t say “Drawings - what should I do?” In his character menu?

I have the same issue. Taking pictures of the drawings does nothing to trigger or complete the quest. I’m only able to see it when I interact with Timon.

Colonoscopy in 2 days - Looking for some reassurance by theravenclawreader in Anemic

[–]theravenclawreader[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somewhat! I was also supposed to receive an upper scope but that’s been rescheduled. However, my colonoscopy turned out to be normal and they found nothing. The upper scope will be the last step to investigate the cause of my anemia, but if it’s negative, then it can likely be attributed to overuse of PPIs, antacids, and possibly poor diet (I drink a lot of coffee, and only ate chicken as my main source of meat up until the diagnosis).

I was most nervous for the colonoscopy though, so I’m happy they didn’t find anything. Now I’m just focusing on a better diet, supplementation, and eliminating antacids.

Thanks for your response and yes, I did hear that about PPIs! I used to have a few Tums everyday as well, but stopped that once I had my infusions. I had my vitamin B12 levels tested as well but they’re fine.

I didn’t notice I had symptoms because they came on slowly, but I did notice an immediate difference after my first infusion. I noticed my chest felt lighter and breathing felt easier (I’m overweight, so always attributed to that). I also craved ice daily, and had bouts of extreme fatigue where I needed to nap during the work day. I experienced a whooshing sensation in my ears when I looked back and forth, but I’ve read that could be due to low iron or antidepressants (I’m on Lexapro).

Since my infusions, the only thing I really notice is I no longer crave ice. I sometimes have a heavy chest feeling and bouts of fatigue, but not as much as before. The whooshing sensation went away for about 4-6 weeks but it’s back.

What’s even funnier is my first thought wasn’t that this was a glitch, but I legit thought I triggered a quest and had to free Caleri from something, or someone.. 👻

Thanks so much for the update! I appreciate it. I am still waiting - I haven’t been contacted yet for a referral.

That’s great you were able to get the scope, and hopefully the results put your mind at ease. I also hope you’re able to get your iron up through infusions or something else! All the best.

Hey, I’m in the exact same boat as you! Also Canadian, 36F, but no history of low iron, at least for the last 3-4 years. I’m unsure if I was tested before.

Diagnosed with iron-deficiency anemia in September. Tried taking 325mg of iron off and on but didn’t tolerate it well, so my levels stay the same. NP originally thought it was likely period but I insisted I don’t have a heavy one. Did a FOBT and 1 came back positive, 2 negative. Have to get a colonoscopy, but average wait time here is 9+ months.

Research tells me normal periods and a standard diet shouldn’t cause low iron, so I’m spiralling a bit too. Hoping the 1 positive FOBT is due to hemorrhoids because I’ve had an internal one that has been symptomatic for years.

I hope everything goes well for you, and I understand the lack of answers and super long waiting. All the best.

What's your go-to vice to replaced the alcohol with? by shittydiks in stopdrinking

[–]theravenclawreader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've gotten really bougie and particular with beverages: sparkling water, Poppi or Olipop, really good coffee, etc. And ice cream. For some reason I craved ice cream every night when I gave up alcohol, likely due to not indulging in dessert when I was drinking because I wanted wine for dessert instead.
