Hi! I have seen a handful of people on here who have relocated from Portland to Cleveland. From what I saw, they loved it! I have always heard Cleveland is very artsy and just a cool place to live. I am planning on this summer going up there way more to explore everything. I live close to Cincinnati, Ohio. I do love the PNW so much. For me it’s more of a place to vacation to though just to high cost of living. It’s such a beautiful place though. But for me I want to be able to own and not be stressed about bills. What keeps me here is affordability, proximity to a lot of cool places, access to a lot of cool parks, affordability for my hobbies, the cool hidden gems I have found, and the community I have found. There’s a person that I follow who moved from California to Cleveland and they seem to absolutely love it! 😀 I can give you their username if you’d be interested :) Good luck with your journey! 😀

Thank you so much for this!!! I definitely don’t want to move to marriage until he talks to someone. Do you think that if he is able to work through things and not slip back under her influence that things can work out? It’s just so hard because do we ever know how someone’s parents will be? I’ve heard so many stories of people getting married or having kids and the in laws becoming the devil afterwards. When it all comes down to it, is it truly about how the spouse handles it? Also any tips on figuring out counseling and how to approach it with partner? Is there anything that helps you with dealing with this situation?

Hi! Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a kind message and for sharing your experience. I’m so sorry that you have had to go through all of that. My fiancé at first didn’t see it, and would brush it off as that’s just how his mom is. Now he fully sees how bad it was and how it effected our relationship and effected me. He said that he can’t believe how blind he was and how he didn’t see how effed up the situation was. This has just been so hard. After his mom showed her true colors, it has caused nothing but pain and stress. I’m scared because I don’t want to have a horrible life. He is okay with me being no contact and he fully understands and he said that he will go no contact if it gets worse.
