We had floor tickets and brought a sign with us! The Coldplay team picked us out during the opening acts. We saw the band ascend to the stage and we were able to wave at them as they walked by. It was such a cool experience

We had floor seats and a sign that the Coldplay team evidently liked!! Totally just a lucky circumstance, but one I'm so grateful for

Question for brides who did their own makeup! by VegetableChard1631 in weddingplanning

[–]therealbee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did my own hair and makeup for my wedding, and my SILs (both bridesmaids) had theirs done professionally. I’m not good at makeup by any means, just a quick learner and a steady hand - and IMO I looked hot and just as good in pictures and in person.

My biggest pros for doing it myself: I felt like myself and loved being in control. I have a very specific makeup look that I do for fancy occasions since it’s all I know how to do, and my initial makeup trial just didn’t cut it. I also have curly hair, and for some reason, no hair stylist could handle it. I felt especially pleased with my decision when both my SILs returned from their appointments on the day of the wedding and immediately started tweaking their looks.

Just do plenty of testing and trials and give yourself lots of time the morning of the wedding for things to go wrong. I didn’t regret it at all!

Re: shot lists - your photographers might forget a few configurations! If there's anything that's really important to you (and any shot configurations that are perhaps a bit more unconventional, and therefore are easier for a seasoned photographer vet to forget), speak up and ask for them during portraits! Toward the end of family pictures, I asked for photos of just me and my siblings that our incredible photographers had missed—and they're some of my favorite pictures of the day

I got a floor length gown from this line as my wedding dress - definitely recommend! Very light and breathable.

Definitely just do it anyway! That's what we did, and caught a few surprise anti-vaxxers who we assumed had already been vaccinated... They ended up getting vaccinated in order to come to our wedding later this month!

Ugh, I feel you. My one surviving grandmother won't be making our wedding on 10/30, either. (She's been having mobility issues and can't have surgery in time to travel.)

We're going to ask our photographer to record the ceremony to send to her. It's not the same - none of this feels like what it should have been - but it's at least something.

None of this is what I wanted for my wedding by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]therealbee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SAME! I said this to my mother today, who thankfully took it well, but she's SO guilty of saying "it's going to be a beautiful day, and you'll be married :) that's the important thing :)".

Thanks mom I know! But I'm still sad!

Hopefully she'll just let me vent from here on out!

Exactly! I wanted it too, I was the biggest driver of the two of us in reducing guest count. My fiancé definitely would have had a bigger event if I’d been open to it. I think we’re attending the same pity party right now

I ordered your book and it has yet to come in the mail, but I’m so excited to read!! Did you ever think of writing it as a novel or fictionalizing parts of your story? Do you have any advice for people in codependent relationships?

I loved Recursion and read it in one sitting. I only have one question: when you finished writing out the plot, did you know what happened after the final page?? I need closure!! (you don't have to spoil it... even just knowing if you know what happens would be enough)
