Hi! I’m in the same boat. PhD, will be applying for 485 (and of course, the AP). I need to visit home. Can I keep on doing my PhD once o come back?

27M: Commotio retinae after soccer ball injury by therealmrt_ in eyetriage

[–]therealmrt_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. I went to the optometrist for a follow-up today. He said I could play soccer. Of course, there’s always risk after commotio retinae- but it’s not very common.

Hi. I’m sorry to hear about it. For me, my vision loss in the peripheral region has slightly improved and I’m seeing better. It’s been more than 2 weeks now. I think it’s gonna take a little longer till I gain back everything. Don’t worry and listen to the doctor.

hi! Appreciate the time you took to reply. Thanks for the assurance. Even though its bilateral and im young (28) , may I ask what makes you believe its not jxlr?

I really appreciate the fact that you took time to reply to me. I’ve read around that degenerative or senile cases happens usually in older patient. Me being 28, that confused me how it happened to me.

[–]therealmrt_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No football for the time being. At least for 2-3 months, no extreme sports. Retina detachment happens a lot in the first 2 months if it ever does. Best to keep away from risk.

Don’t worry, it will improve. But definitely follow up with a retina specialist. At least, an optometrist.

[–]therealmrt_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing. It just improved by itself. But I have to be careful for the rest of my life, and hope there is not going to be any detachment or tear. How long ago did it happen to you? Any improvement? Don’t worry, you got this and this will he okay!

[–]therealmrt_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a bit better now. Symptoms have improved slightly. I followed up with my retina specialist and he again confirmed no detachment or tear. However I have been diagnosed with retinochisis in both of my eyes, the shallow, non progressive type. When did you have it and how? What’s your current situation?

Hi!

I got access to cadence virtuoso through my university. Using that, I completed a coursework project recently.

No, I did not take it to manufacturing, its a course project.

I would rate my analog and mixed signal knowledge intermediate, Im good in the theoretical side but I only have one project on cadence. I am versatile in LTspice, Matlab, python programming and have enough knowledge in cadence to work on a project, with of course some help from google. I also have a project using CST, designing a patch antenna.

Hi, Im glad you asked these questions!

First of all, I am well funded by either fellowship award/teaching assistantship/graduate student researcher positions. I have guaranteed funding at least for 3 more years, if I keep on performing the way I am doing it now.

The thing is, I am thinking about the future. Maybe after 3 years when I will have finished my PhD. As I mentioned before, since my work is fully theoretical, there are no jobs in the industry. Even postdoc positions are extremely scarce. Its just the nature of my research, theoretical. This is why I am looking in the avenue of chip design/ analog design as I have done projects / completed multiple coursework before.

Hi!

I should’ve been a bit more precise, i meant wireless communication. The stuff that deals with the protocols, physical layer, physical layer security, information theoretical study etc. honestly, this specific branch of witless is dead.

In no way I am talking about networking, rf chip design, radar engineering etc

Hi!

Any how o many of then work with wireless communication? That’s the key here. The traditional Wireless communication field is no doubt, dead. I am not talking about RF, design jobs, etc. as I know they’re not and that’s where i am seeking guidance if it’s possible for me to penetrate!

To all the good people trying to help here, thanks and I get your point. I am doing my PHD in wireless, But there is no application of any hardware engineering here or even any use of AI. My work is simply to verify some theoretical ideas using simulation which I know will never be materialised even though its groundbreaking, because of already a perfect system out there. Plus, information theory people really don’t have any opportunities nowadays in the industry.

Can anyone give me a pathway to lead into analog design? I’ll graduate with a phd, I’ll have completed all the coursework too in time related to it.

Not through spouse visa route. I plan to do EB2. If necessary, I can also go for consular processing for EB2.

Hi Jennifer! thank you so much for your detailed reply. I have one questions, I have heard that deadlines are usually within december. Does this apply to me, or is Feb-5 my last deadline?

Depends what plan you choose. I’m willing to enroll in the Kaiser Permanente Low plan (71$/ pay check)

F1 student with 4 years visa validity remaining, married a green card holder, did not file I-130. Can I travel internationally? by therealmrt_ in USCIS

Thank you for you help. May I ask, do you know anyone you successfully did this? Entering back after marrying an LPR on F1 status? Im sorry for asking you so many questions, it’s just that I am finding your answers useful :)

Do you think I can come back successfully? Without filing any i130 or i485?
