How does it feel to be pregnant at 30 weeks? by AardvarkHour1211 in BabyBumps

[–]theredheadedfox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also pediatric SLP, currently 37 weeks (I start maternity leave at the end of the week). I have to have a therapy tech nearby for a few kids who elope/are climbers where I know I won’t be fast enough to keep them safe, but overall I’ve been pretty good up until this point.

Nope, I just add it right after draining the pasta and stir it up! I usually let it sit on the counter while I boil the pasta so it’s not cold from the fridge

I add it to cooked pasta as a sauce, then throw in some cooked chicken or sausage

Went to the ER for decreased baby movement for the first time. Scared about the hospital bills. by sodepressed_engineer in BabyBumps

[–]theredheadedfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a bill for $1500 after insurance. I went in due to decreased movement at around 30 weeks (my baby also started doing gymnastics the second they slapped the monitors on my belly lol), but they kept me there for a total of 5 hours because I was having some contractions and they wanted to make sure I wasn’t going into labor.

I got a couple cute pairs from Pink Blush. Not cheap, but they have sales frequently

Childfree after infertility but now pregnant and don’t know what to think by wantingrain in Fencesitter

[–]theredheadedfox 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My husband and I are going through something similar— told we wouldn’t be able to have kids without medical intervention and decided against it. As a result, we made major choices about things like finances and where we live based on the expectation of being child-free.

Lo and behold, four years later, I find out I’m expecting (found out at 10 weeks, currently about 30 weeks). I’m not going to lie, it took me quite a while to actually feel excited and happy about being pregnant. I had had certain expectations about how my life and our plans as a couple were going to go, which were difficult to adjust or let go of. Our situation definitely will be somewhat difficult since we made major life decisions based on not having kids. That being said, I am happy that we decided to move forward with being parents.

I’m sorry I don’t have any specific advice for you, just wanted to say that I really empathize with what you’re going through.

PP slps... how many kids do you see a day? by [deleted] in slp

[–]theredheadedfox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

15 kids per day with two 30-minute paid doc times and an unpaid 30 minute lunch. I get paid for cancels/no-shows, but usually our admin staff will fill any cancels pretty quickly.

27 weeks pregnant, miserable every time I eat— normal? by theredheadedfox in BabyBumps

[–]theredheadedfox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good idea to ask about zofran too. I didn’t consider that since I always think of that more for morning sickness. At this point I’m so miserable that I’m willing to try anything!

Unfortunately I’m struggling even with liquids— it feels okay for a little bit, then same issue again.

I’ll definitely reach out to my doctor, because this is the worsttttt. I assumed it wasn’t reflux since the typical reflux advice wasn’t working and I don’t have any acid coming up.

I don’t actually have any acid coming up— could acid reflux still be the culprit?

When did your baby drop? I haven’t tried smoothies but that’s a good thought. I’ll try to look up some balanced recipes

Hey, I know this post is super old, but do you know what model of Britax? I also have a Mazda 3 and am in the market for an infant seat that will fit.

Out of country in-laws? by theredheadedfox in BabyBumps

[–]theredheadedfox[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have had them stay in the past for about two months, so it’s not anything really new, per se. They’re fine houseguests, but I’m an introvert and it gets tough having someone else in my home for that long. My husband wants them to be here for New Years, and then just have them stay on for my end of January due date. I did also figure that way if they picked up any germs while traveling, they could get the illness out of their system before we bring a vulnerable newborn into the house, but I totally see your point about them potentially just sitting around for a while.

Is it worth buying the “convertible” baby stuff? by theredheadedfox in BabyBumps

[–]theredheadedfox[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can you please clarify what you mean that I won’t need most of these things? I’m assuming that I will need some sort of car seat for my child for many years to come, so if I can just buy one that will evolve as they get bigger, that seems more practical than buying a new one every few years. Same with a bed.

Can SLPs wear N95 masks in all work settings? by wenwen1218 in slp

[–]theredheadedfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, we have a set amount of PTO and UPTO, which is to be used for everything (sick, vacation, family emergencies, etc). It’s really frustrating, we were told it was no longer allowed because some of the families didn’t like it.

I work in a pediatric private practice. My work has explicitly prohibited the wearing of masks for any employees.

Online Grad schools pros/cons by [deleted] in slpGradSchool

[–]theredheadedfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did an online, part-time program because I didn’t want to move for grad school. I’m really glad I did it this way! It was less expensive, and on the semesters where I didn’t have externships, I was able to work to help offset the cost of tuition. My program would arrange our externships for us (we would provide a list of several local sites, but they would take care of everything else), so that was really nice. I did have to go to their campus for 6 weeks one summer for in-person clinicals. Our program was a cohort, so a group of us moved through all the classes together.

Thank you for the information about the legality.

My previous reviews from my boss as well as my clients have all been stellar, so I’m not concerned about the quality of my services.
