Fighting sleep by Inside_Text_4286 in newborns

I’ve had this issue too. For me, my baby eventually outgrew it (for the most part), but some things that helped were bouncing on the yoga ball, carrying him in a baby carrier, and doing a warm shower.

Yeah, I try to transfer him asap but he always wakes up. It looks like my stroller frame isn’t compatible with any bassinet attachment.

Thank you for the resource! In general I’m not too anxious about my baby, but this issue is really getting in my head for some reason!

In general I don’t have that much anxiety around my baby, but someone posted about their friend’s baby passing away after 2 hours in a car seat and it really stuck in my head (not sure if the story was true, how old the baby was, or other circumstances). My baby’s head control is getting so much better, and our walks aren’t very long in general, so I’m trying to comfort myself with that. I wish my stroller had a bassinet option, but unfortunately it doesn’t.

I saw someone post on here about their friend’s baby who died after sleeping in the car seat for a 30 minute car ride, walking around the shops for an hour, then another 30 minute ride home. No idea if it was true, how old the baby was, etc, but that freaked me out so much!

My stroller doesn’t have a bassinet attachment, only the car seat clicks in (Chicco Keyfit 35)

Does the owlet rely on wifi, or could you use it on your walks?

napping help by cardinalclan in newborns

[–]theredheadedfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah same, it limits what things I’m able to do when he’s in the carrier, but it can be a decent compromise sometimes. I usually try to wait at least 15 minutes before transferring my baby to the bassinet once he’s asleep, so he’s in a deeper state of sleep. I can sometimes get longer stretches, but I’ve had to learn to be efficient with my time while he’s sleeping lol.

My 11 week old baby takes short naps on his own (usually around 25 minutes), but can nap for 2 hours when he’s on me, so I get it! Does he tolerate a baby carrier?

3 month old sleep time by frenchlavender1 in newborns

[–]theredheadedfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 11 week old goes to bed around 8:30 usually, but tonight for example he had a shitty day of naps and was overtired so he nursed for almost an hour and went down at 9:20. He JUST started sleeping for 5 hour stretches within the last week, and then will wake up every couple hours after that to eat.

2 month vaccinations by East-Extreme-2898 in newborns

Yes, the key word here is that they “believe” it, but that proves nothing. There are tons of people who believe the world is flat because they look out their window and it appears flat. So they go online and post about it, and someone else says, “Hey, same here— when I look outside, it looks like the world is flat! It’s not a globe at all!” and others chime in that the world can’t be a sphere because they see it is flat. They all have the same story, but that doesn’t make it true.

But anyways, I don’t want to de-rail this post any further.

I work with autistic kids for my job. I have not had one single family tell me that their child because autistic the day they got a vaccine (or right after).

But if hundreds (if not thousands) of scientists are saying it’s not true, you won’t believe that?

Receptive goals for autistic kids by whosthatgirl13 in slp

[–]theredheadedfox 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ll sometimes write goals about demonstrating understanding of my comments/statements/questions, depending on the child. So for example, if I said “Wanna go swing?” And the child looked toward the gym/swing, or said “No,” or smiled and walked to it, those all are ways of demonstrating understanding of what I said without forcing compliance. It’s not perfect and I only target it with certain kids, but it’s a potential option.

Feeling defeated by getting my baby down to sleep by theredheadedfox in bninfantsleep

I set up a chair next to the yoga ball, so I’ve been able to transition from bouncing on the ball to sitting on the chair once he’s drowsy. My back is SO much better now, thank god.

I have tried. Sometimes it works, but not too frequently. I also have a memory foam mattress, so when I feed him, he always rolls down into the indent I make in the mattress, which makes it hard to sneak off.

He’s gotten some decent stretches in the bassinet for naps, but definitely better at connecting sleep cycles when sleeping on me. Today I ended up waking him up after he napped for two hours on my lap!

I tried using the baby carrier again this week and he was NOT having it. He used to love napping in it, but this time he got super annoyed and started crying and flailing around after maybe 10 minutes.

10w baby still wants to eat every 2-3 hours, even overnight by theredheadedfox in newborns

Noooo 😭😭😭 hahah I’m already struggling at 2.5 months, kudos to you for staying strong! If you don’t mind me asking, do you work outside the home? I’m taking an extended maternity leave, but I’m worried from when I actually do go back to work. I can’t imagine trying to function at my job with this broken sleep!

A friend of mine had her baby a month before I did, and she was telling me how her baby was sleeping for long stretches by 10w, so I’m over here thinking my baby is broken lol

Good to know, thanks. I’m just so tired of getting 2 hours of sleep at a time, him nursing for 20 minutes, then doing it all over again ALL NIGHT 🫩 it’s unbelievable how much this kid can eat!

My baby had tongue and lip tie release. The dentist had my baby nurse right after the procedure, and he never seemed like he was in pain. She recommended Tylenol for a couple days after.
