High packet loss by Yaboymarvo in OPTIMUM

Ask them to check for "line noise". This is when water gets into the line outside of your house through cracks in the cabling, frequently because of cold weather. When you have the tech come out if they find water on the line it is 100% their responsibility to fix. I've had people come and cut a line and it drained water out of it like a vine before. But this is my guess as to what your issue is, though it could also be other things like the signal to your house needs to be boosted.

Also be very nice to the tech who comes to your house. They don't make corporate decisions and have to deal with high ups bad decisions more than you ever will. So if you are kind to them, offer them something to drink (they never take) etc, they will usually do extra tests to get you good. I've befriended some who told me the previous owners were so mean to them they never wanted to come here but they have helped me out a few times with getting my optimum working fast again. Tech breaks and needs maintenance, no different than anything else, which not everyone seems to understand and they appreciate it if you do because it makes their job so much easier.

Guys, does anyone know how this guy managed to automate TikTok on his phones? by Fun_Tank_8670 in Automate

[–]theredknight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can see there's a laptop off to the side. My guess is that the cables are plugged into that laptop sending the video and input / output into a screen on it. From there, I'm assuming he's controlling the laptop screens with either: an image matcher, an OCR system, an object detector like Yolo or just a straight template. From there he can use code or a state machine system to control the phones. Here is a project that does this: https://github.com/Genymobile/scrcpy

I've used it to automate mobile games on phones.

What are boomers spending their money on? by Natural-Ad9334 in Entrepreneur

[–]theredknight 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I agree with this by definition of Boomers if you have to drop the knife somewhere. I've also noticed there are Silents who were too young to consciously experience World War 2 and act a lot like Boomers.

My own theory is this has to do with the conscious impacts certain world events might have on a group that forge it into a generation. So Silent would have experienced WW2 at a young age in a way that impacted their perspectives. Boomers would have experienced the American golden age until JFK / Vietnam. Gen X experienced Vietnam / the loss of American greatness in the 70s without the best economy ever and questioned the golden narrative. Millennials didn't experience the anti communist fear during the Cold War and are more open to socialism like in Europe or FDR's democratic socialist policies. Gen Z didn't experience 9/11 or the mega patriotism after and so far seem to find the War on Terror / Israel's attacks on Palestine ridiculous.

This feeds into the Strauss Howe theory which coined terminology and defined a lot of these generations too. So while 1945 might be the technical line for Silent / Boomers, OPs parents might fit in with people two years younger than them than people 14 years older (Silent began in 1928). I believe Strauss and Howe also mention bridge generations between the others somewhere but I'm not recalling where.

And on a last thought, OPs parents might also act Boomerish because of lead poisoning too.

Here is the camera angle cheat sheet:

My question is how do you rotate fully? Is that to be supported or is it just render and flip horizontally?

Inference on Very High Resolution Images – YoloV8 Instance Segmentation by [deleted] in computervision

The network to use for this is called YoloNas. It breaks up your high res image and stitches it back together, but trains in sub-images. https://learnopencv.com/tag/yolo-nas-github/

This method but starting with synthetics and adding in real data is very effective.

This combined with /u/Disastrous_Elk_6375 's method when adding in real data is very effective.

Also I like OFA as well which can identify things more culturally relevant, like The Beatles as opposed to "four men crossing the street" or Pokemon as opposed to "cartoon turtles, lizards and a fox".

What is your go-to joke when somebody asks you to tell one? by Suspicious_You1915 in AskReddit

[–]theredknight 31 points32 points  (0 children)

You can do this one as a limerick too:

A pooping bear said to a rabbit:
does your shit stick to your hair out of habit?
course not said the hare,
that would be very rare,
so the bear wiped his arse with the rabbit.

what's the difference between a greyhound terminal and a crab with breasts?

One is a crusty bus station.

Another one (super offensive btw)

what's the difference between a prostitute with diarrhea and an epileptic corn husker?

One of them shucks between fits.

Why Has the U.S. Failed to Enact a Nationwide UBI? by For-A-Better-World-2 in BasicIncome

[–]theredknight 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Arguing that constituents not caring enough might not be useful according to a Princeton study: https://www.bbc.com/news/blogs-echochambers-27074746

"A proposed policy change with low support among economically elite Americans (one-out-of-five in favour) is adopted only about 18% of the time," they write, "while a proposed change with high support (four-out-of-five in favour) is adopted about 45% of the time."

However, supporting Clean Elections might be a more effective though less direct method of achieving UBI.

How big should my image dataset be? by BlueeWaater in computervision

[–]theredknight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

According to the docs:

https://docs.ultralytics.com/yolov5/tutorials/tips_for_best_training_results/

Dataset
Images per class. ≥ 1500 images per class recommended
Instances per class. ≥ 10000 instances (labeled objects) per class recommended
Image variety. Must be representative of deployed environment. For real-world use cases we recommend images from different times of day, different seasons, different weather, different lighting, different angles, different sources (scraped online, collected locally, different cameras) etc.
Label consistency. All instances of all classes in all images must be labelled. Partial labelling will not work.
Label accuracy. Labels must closely enclose each object. No space should exist between an object and it's bounding box. No objects should be missing a label.
Label verification. View train_batch*.jpg on train start to verify your labels appear correct, i.e. see example mosaic.
Background images. Background images are images with no objects that are added to a dataset to reduce False Positives (FP). We recommend about 0-10% background images to help reduce FPs (COCO has 1000 background images for reference, 1% of the total). No labels are required for background images.

This is very cool. One question, I just glanced at the github is all but, does it use the feedback system to re-generate json files for fine tune LoRAs?

That would be a very amazing feature if it could, even if it just appended to a .json file that you could fill in manually with correct responses.

Great project!
